What did you do to your Z this week?

Took the blue car to Donington Park for an open pit lane track day yesterday. It rained heavy to start with but still enjoyed finding the limits on a very wet track. By mid day in stopped raining and the track was dry by 2 o'clock so time for some proper fun. After the first session I was told the car was extremely close to the noise limit so I tried to assess how to where to back off on the next session. Unfortunately I was black flagged soon after going out. Later in the day I had another go and this time coasted on the main straight in 5th to avoid the noise sensor and enjoyed myself on the rest of the track. Managed consistent 1'28's by keeping off boost and coasting the main straight.

Fixing the wastgate noise should be pretty easy and I'm looking forward to seeing just how fast the car will go. Matt managed a low 1'25 in his car which looks like the time to beet.

John, those times are very good considering you were coasting and Matt's an old man now. I decided not to come over in the afternoon because knowing you were black-flagged I though you might go early. Also my daughter Amy was having a baby so I'm a Granddad for the 5th time. Anyway well done and I bet the track was still a bit damp pm.

Any video?

Rob, there were other people there as well you know

John you missed out the part where

"Old man Matt" managed a low 1:25 in his car
When he drove my car a little later he was quicker with a 1:25 dead...............7 hundredths of a second quicker than "older man Steve"

Those times are for a busy track day, on a competition day you could typically see much quicker times

Last days of summer

In between finishing the house renovation.. Drove it.. drove it again..and again. haha..

Getting in the last days of summer before taking off the road.:D

Looking forward to taking the Z off the road and going through my list of to do's

Put a bid on that 260 with 15k miles at CCA, sadly lost, was a pukka example, very nice.. time warp was an exact description, brand new in interior. Someone ended up with a very nice example. I wonder if someone here?

Took my motorbike CBT at the weekend. Theory in two weeks then my DAS shortly after. After a Triumph Bonneville or a Kawasaki W800.. will sit nice parked next to my Z..

Yum Yum!

Fair play for taking the bike test - sounds like a right PITA nowadays though (and expensive). Back in 1980 when I passed mine you virtually had to ride up and down the road a few times without falling off to pass!

Yep, I took mine in 1968 - it was very much like that apart from hand signals (no indicators on bikes in those days). No helmets either.

I'm just about to do the same thing, CBT, although I'm going for slightly less power and getting a Lammy again as a project for the winter - it will give me something to do until the next car project anyway

This was my last one which I sold in about 2002

The burning sensation is subsiding slowly...........

Looks OK I suppose. Just needs updating - bigger wheels - real handlebars - proper gear change and four cylinders, then it would be great!

In about 1976 a mate and I spied one of these - was a 200cc one I think - 1966 - D reg - in a guy's garage further down our road. I had a word with my dad and I offered him £5 for it. He said if I could increase that to £10 it was mine. Sadly I couldn't!

We used to ride these on the fields when I was about 15 ... they were knackered and nobody wanted them - you could get them for nothing virtually, how's times have changed.

That looks a fine example.

A guy on Pistonheads in Greece has old rusty ones lining the roof of his workshop ... !

Tried to get my clock working again a few weeks back. Took it apart, checked the motor which did actually spin up and work. But despite a lot of fiddling I gave up in the end and just put it back in the car disconnected. I don't often give up but this defeated me.

It’s fine as a stepping stone to a motorcycle when you’re less than 10 years old, you can wear a dark visor so no one will see you riding it

I'd rather stab myself repeatedly in the arm with a blunt fork than dress up like a power ranger and listen to meatloaf....

You boys had better watch your lip, JK isn't the only person on here who worships at the Altar Of The Ten Inch Wheels.....

Cheers Sam, been haggling with a guy in Scotland over a couple of Spanish scoots he has... :D
