This may seem strange coming from me, but I think that all forum user,s should atleast, try to respect any querie or question from anybody and acknowledge that there are different level,s of experience and know how throughout owner,s & user,s. Encourage, support & help if you can & don.t take anyone for granted.Debate, by all mean,s & remember. There,s alway,s somebody more Knowledgeable as there is someone less . Mr.F ,Should be cloned, and his double put away so that we have the security of maintaining his tech-tip,s for future generation,s.

What! you havent noticed

Mr.F ,Should be cloned

Shhhh -- its been done already, the Mr F you see is one of many versions we have, the real one is vacuum packed in a large chest freezer.

Considering using just one stock body with interchangable heads in the next version.

You, re right about that Steve. The Mr.F, I stood next to at the Jae,seemed somewhat, different? He was leaning toward,s the wrong side! Is it no wonder,That Mr,F is the leading poster(s).The thing is Who am I buying thing,s off? Is it the one lying down in "Iceland" or the one that lean,s the wrong way ,like Robert Mitchum?...............................................DJZ 60.

Mr.F,s advice has alway,s been spot on & if the advice is right then the advice seeker has been content with that henceforth,no further argument or contesting of post,s.I trust Mr.F,and would proudly declare Mr.F to be more accurate than even The Hayne,s manual. Improving the forum......That,s what this Forum is about. So let,s get back to view,s from those who have not posted as of yet,and do remember Mike is a Valuble asset to the cub & the Forum.......................................DJZ 60.

"Mike is a valuble asset " ? Or did you mean he's a volatile gusset ? Any more versions ?

In fact, I remember the slimline version we tried long ago who could make more cups of tea in 5 minutes than anyone else; that version was pensioned off (wore the motor out trying to find those little parts in the garage !) and is happily passing the time propping up the refurbished Eros statue !

Sean,

I do hope you didn't think I was serious about your general disposition, buddy, I thought the smilies might convey the "banter" element. :)

Besides, I've just seen evidence tp the contrary in your wonderful gallery photo, where you're beaming from ear-to-ear, and rightly so. Many congratulations to you both!! :D :D

Steve, good idea for the other section, btw, the number of posts there have been since I last visited on Friday (hmmm, strange, last time I was at work ;) ) are proof positive of the increase in useage of this forum, and I think, the increased confidence of more people to post. :)

DJZ 60 - Good call to raise this in first place, matey, it's already proven to be a productive topic.

JB.

Sean ,sorry about, atrocious spelling.(busy weekend).John-boy, I am, but a small fish,in this world of Z lover,s & I am curious,as to who,s looking in & feel that if a 'menu' is formulated as per, the requirement, then the Web-ster,s can provide what user,s want.I am surprised that many user,s & look-in,s have not yet given their view on this subject. I would say Sean is proud, happy & exhausted,in relation to myself, who can be grumpy, lumpy, mumfy,&stumfy. I cant remember(bad spelling) I think Mike is a viable estate. or was it' Valuable Asset'.I think you know what I mean........Thank,s john boy,for kind word,s ...............................................DJ secondary corset...

Well what I'd like to see on the forum is

a) A new logo (same Z club logo but I want it in a vector based format) with the banner of "One club, all the cars"....

b) An about the cars section, forget all the bs and lets have a section on the cars the club is about! It's bloody criminal that we don't.

I've be threatening to do it myself and I'll write it when I get chance and it's going be oh so wrong that someone will feel obliged to step in and fix it.

I will post up the about the cars section anonymously and will be sworn to secrecy if someone will write a bit about a model, it's specs, some details on it etc unless you want the glory and aren't afraid of the reprisals for getting a tiny detail from 30 years ago wrong....

Oh and I want the online shop updated....

Yep,

I hear your pain, Russ ... you've been asking for this for quite some time now, I remember. :(

Where did we got to with this thread?
New Logo Discussion

It looked full of promise, but somehow we never quite discovered the whereabouts of the grail!

I'd love to help with the logo, but unfortunately any artwork I try my hand at ends up as aesthetically pleasing as a dog turd on a pram wheel (eat your heart out Tracey Emmins! ;)) So would consider myself automatically discounted. I'm more than happy to do the write-up on the cars, though, so long as someone else can help me with the stats .. as Russ, rightly points out here, anyone taking on this task is likely to be strafed by sniper bullets, should they stumble with any of the detail.

Mike (F), If I was to draft a set of specs from the various books I've got etc, would you be willing to cast your eye over them as a starting point? At least if there was 2 figures in the cross-hairs, it might serve to confuse any potential snipers!! :D

JB.

Well John boy at least you'd be bothered to do something, if you get shot so be it, least you died for a worthy cause and for the good of many. Self sacrifice, such a rare quality these days....

You can be the first Z club martyr when you're gone. You'll be Saint John of Gunmetal 350z...

I bet Mr.F would be willing to help, even if he did so in secret to save himself being shot as well... ;)

Hi,Sean asked, and got a general section So I don,t see why Russ should,nt get his request. Russ,I never seek glory but will take the reprisal,s along with the bullet,s Anyday. I too, fully agree that a 'Z car,s' section, would be great, bear in mind what Rob Gaskin has rightly said, that we,ve got to avoid repetitive fact,s,info, etc. Also,I have observed that sometime,s biblical volume of stat,s,can become somewhat boring,so interest element should be maintained.I know my car, a 260Z 2+2,but when it come,s to'Expertism' in Stat,s & fact,s people like Carl Beck,s, Albrect,Mr.F etc, do have more knowledge in that dept. However as you may have noticed Passion! is what I have in Gigantiam quantities and I am not afraid to support you Russ, So. I,m here, 'Fire away'............................................DJZ 60.

JDZ, Good points .. anything we produce needs to be concise and *interesting*, as the last thing we want to do is turn any potential members off.

It all needs to be consistent too ... which sounds like we need a template for each variant, and it all needs to be complete in before we publish. At least the basics, anyway .. there's plenty of potential for "click here for further info" ...

So, as a starter for 10, how about something like?

Pictures: front, side, rear and interior view (nice thumbnails)
Link to Relevant Gallery (click here to see more examples)
Production Dates
(Approximate Numbers) Known to have shipped to the UK
(Approximate Numbers) Still around
Variants: e.g. Z32 TT Z 32 NA (complete with engine codes and displacement) & power and torque figures
Performance Figures: e.g. 0-60/ v-max/ 1/4 mile time
Cost New

Narrative: A little bit of prose about the car(s), the market they were aimed at, competitors etc, etc

Then perhaps some links to past discussions under headings like "buying advice", "fuel consumption" etc, etc

What do people think?

CheerZ,
JB.

Sounds like a very good start to me....

Don't suppose you have the book "Datsun 240z and 260z Gold Portfolio" ? You could use some of the stats chosen by the magazines of the time etc for inclusion, make a bit like a magazine article...

Also for inclusion mabye we should have some motorsport details to also encourage the petrol heads and possibly a little part on modified versions (a la Retro Cars)? Or should we stick to a pure detail of the car when it was introduced?

Well whatever, if we start somewhere we can always add and expand as we see fit :D

Hi,Russ. I think John-boy,s got the job or idea atleast.I think section,s within the varient,s could segment originally factory produced, through to, up-graded model,s. open it out a bit so anyone looking in can flip through progressive stages.,widening appeal across the board. If a decently researched compilation is put together (screened) before it goe,s out then it,ll be worth all the stick/flak anyone can throw at us (or me) cause I,ll be your screen & bullet proof vest............................DJ'shot-dead' 60.

I have the Gold Portfolio book you mentioned. Let me know if you want any info from it (assuming Mr. F can't recall the whole lot off the top of his head that is!).

Nice one, Tony ..

How about I work on a template then, I'll send it to you and you could fill in the stats from your book (if you'd be so kind), and we can stick a pdf of it up somewhere for people to have a butcher's at. Alternatively, I can put something together in word, and perhaps Russ, you'd be able to turn it into an HTML template?

DJZ, I like the idea of the upgrades sections, but I think we should concentrate on getting the standard models done first and published. Oh, and thanks for the offer of the "human Kevlar jacket" .. :D

I'll try and crack on with something this week.

CheerZ,
JB.

Tony,s a gem. John-boy It,s all sounding great, good show, keep the wheels in motion but remember.Start as you mean to go on,by upgrade, I mean carb,s(260 orig'one,s naff) 280 eng' prefered, etc. There,s more car,s out there that are not Kosha- original than one,s that are. Anyway what do I know,I,m only the Bodygaurd......................................DJZ 60.

Guys, I don't take seriously anything you say, so don't aplogise !!!

"A new logo (same Z club logo but I want it in a vector based format) with the banner of "One club, all the cars"...." call me thicky but what do you mean here ?

Yes, definietly a section that tells viewers what these cars are about, predominantly standard with a cross reference to modified later if the first section works ! Possibly combined with a what to look for (already prepared by Mike I believe) when buying ?

I would like to have a chat space where at practically real-time, registered members could chat quickly with other on-line members !
