Skidoffs' challenge

There must be a point where a car could be pretty quick in the quarter, quick round a race track, and able to drive there and back into the bargain. Maximising one parameter will mean compromising another, so the trick will be knowing just how far to go.......

Exactly what i've been trying to say for some time now ! And yes Rob, it's cheap motorsport, accessible for the 99% and of course it's about the cars and the people, but above all - the fun !

Thanks for the offer - when I have some 2006 dates, I'll let you know ! I'm REALLY looking forward to easing past Grolls' saloon Z :) !

Don't take my comments as a knock-back, as they were meant to be more of an encouragement than anything else.

Big shoulders and hard skin Albrecht:D , I have learnt to appreciate the counts style by now;)
You have a point in that they (our fellow Japanese S30 enthusiasts) are eeking huge power and quick times from those straight sixes but I still maintain that if I and other drag racer wanabes had access to the tuning mods that they do we would have considerably better times

Still we shall now have to wait to see what results winters mods will yeild -- I am sure my carbon fibre ashtray will shave 1/4 of a second off

Plus in the end I dont mind loosing the record, it just gives me a chance to get it back.
Steve, Whatever ANYONE says, at least you have actually driven and actually held the record. Nice one !

Yeah, but when is your car coming out ?

And Steve, I don't think you've heard the last of 3.1 strokers and I don't mean me - look closer to home mate !

hey skid, hows about if I come and have a play on your short flat hillclimb without corners and you come and have a play at a longer drag strip uphill with corners. That way you could prove to the doubting membership that you have made your car quick in a striaght line as well as being able to handle the twisty stuff as well. Not to compete against each other but merely to try to encourage other members to try other forms of non contact motorsport. ben

Damn, sorry Ben, I forgot that there was an alternative to track - sorry, circuit 'racing' and drag-strips - my apologies - great idea :)

sean, slightly off topic but we are hoping to come over to a hillclimb about 30mins from cherbourg at the end of june next year. when we have the details i will let you know. hopefully you might be able to make it up to the village for the weekend. cheers ben

Yes Sean there is a lot of Motorsport about if you know where to look.

I am involved in the organisation of grass roots motorsport, so if anyone is interested in Sprints Hillclimbs, PCTs Autotests etc and wants to know more give me a shout.

I will try and answer any questions you may have-or if I can't I will soon find someone that can.

Sorry was asleep did someone mention a challenge

quoting sean:
My goodness - look what crawled out from under the carpet - an ex-Capri driver :) !

ooooh still bitter , why , ? because it taught me how to overtake you on circuit on the last lap flat out on full opposite lock , or because it was surprisingly as fast as your zed at goodwood although the capri was on a damp/wet track and your zed in the dry , or because i could drive it and climb all over your bumper all day even when i was lifting front wheels during cornering , or quite simply you wanted one for yourself but was not as iron willed as me .

get a go kart circuit covered in water when its icy and lets go racing on slicks and remember ramming each other of in the cornres is not allowed

Leave me out of it,my car does the talking on the road, more dangerous, more adrenalin, more horeses to dodge, poxy things,if i went to a drag meet it would be to see proper cars that are quick and different, the cars we take up the pod compared to the real fast cars are just quicker milkfloats in comparison,2 extra pints please,
