Skidoffs' challenge

Well it wont be the first time they got a spanking

And as for sniping boys and girls, lets just remember who keeps digging this up, I just don't like playground bullies

Arr, the crusader - and I don't like show-offs with "in yer face" slogans - you squeak "I'm in it for the intellectual exercise" but modesty fails along the line quite quickly eh ?

Agincourt was lost by French over-confidence, Hastings (whose influence lasted rather longer) from an overhead assault !

Call it the Boffin and The Smeg challenge (is smeg yellow ?)....as we all know who The Stig is now !

Sean, as always these little mellee' and skirmishes serve no purpose other than to vent your frustration
Learn to accept some inevitable facts of life such as death , tax's and engine mediocrity, until you embrace, understand and adopt certain fundamental principles, it will stay that way.

Please let me know the location of a proper accredited drag strip in France and I will investigate what it would take to get there, otherwise I will meet you on the fields of Santa Pod

They serve to show that your sense of humour is limited :p - if this aint fun for you - back off. Other facts of life are - it's short, fragile and it's meaning is to enjoy yourself.

You have collated a great deal of knowledge from several different sources, talked to and with many knowledgeable people and claimed the fame - I'd like to be the nunce to scare you even if knocking you off your perch is beyon my means. But if you can't handle the laugh, retreat like Dunkirk.

I will ask around but off the top of my head, Merignac circuit organise times runs.

Signed,

The Smeg.

You know

I did write a post that said how angry I was that you should accuse me of "claiming fame", but then a voice of reason spoke to me from out of the ether and I realised that what this god like voice was saying was true........you act like a ****** because thats what you want isnt it, you need a way out of this hole you have dug and in your usual fashion you fall back on the tried and tested manner of...."lets slur the opposition and hope everyone forgets all about it" then you look like the good guy, with a look of "butter wouldnt melt" on your face:rolleyes: and all the forum trolls saying "Ahh poor Sean, big bad Steve is picking on him again"

Well its not working this time Sean, as soon as I can raise the funds, I am coming over there to kick your backside, infront of your home crowd
and it won't be pretty, no "hawhehaw" and "lets drink wine mon amie" no you just took this to whole new level.........and if you happen to come over to either Santa Pod or Shakespeare (as if) then we can dance there as well.

You need a short (12 seconds) and sharp dose of reality

The whoopass is out of the cupboard and the can opener is out of the drawer.

And as for

If Sean does come over with his car we all have to remember that its not just a hour trip up the motorway i would donate £20.00 of fuel money to him see him run at the Pod.

The rule about excesively stripping or lightening which may be scrutinered on the day before being allocated to a class is way to vague!
Can the rule maker be more specific??
Surely you can't spend a winter building a car to compete in a class he or she thought the correct class to be told on the day that the scrutineer on the day 'just doesn't fancy it'

You forgot to add IMO .

Can the rule maker be more specific??

The rules were conceived/written by four people.
they have been working well for several years.
They are not of course "written in stone". They can be changed.
But That would require at least 5 people to object so they could out vote the original four in a democratic and transparent way.AFAIC

Surely you can't spend a winter building a car to compete in a class he or she thought the correct class to be told on the day that the scrutineer on the day 'just doesn't fancy it'

Surely you could get in touch with the series Co ordinator and generally the head man BEFORE commencing your build to clarify any issues???

FYI the four were/are... Mr F. Zedhead 260. Skiddell. Pmac.:D

BTW... your fibreglass/spaceframe car is supermod. class.;)

BTW... your fibreglass/spaceframe car is supermod. class.

Point taken.... but that was not the issue I was bringing up.

Does Frenchy get penalised on the day for his weight saving panels in f/g on the day or is he allowed to run with them??

IE can he run with a f/g bonnet and wings but if a f/g hatch is involved does that overstep the rules??

I understand my cars are a different material and can be made lighter but can a steel car run with composite panels and not come under the ' scrutineers point of view'??

Also I could build a car ( money allowing) so light with a 'super modded engine' it would be pointless trying to beat it with a steel car ( with a good driver!) ,so that makes the supermoded group unbalanced to say the least.

thats not by any means a given scenario.

Super mod was the most extreme class and therefore in that group you will always find/potentially find a wide diversity of cars by its very definition.
EG one turbo. two turbos. NOS. superchargers. Used racing slicks. Brand new proper drag slicks. Cars with huge budgets. etc etc.

Check out the FULL rules. Its not only outright speed that scores points.

And bear in mind the whole rules framework was designed in the first place as a compromise to suit as many potential competitors as possible.
It was never going to please all the people all of the time.;)

I was poking a little fun re your plastic fantastic.:D

Frenchy wont get penalised for his panels.
as already said ... one email or call to Mr F will clarify most cars instantly.
We have never had to re convene to debate any individual car that has entered.
It was designed to be simple and easily understood. We are not complicated people just clubmen who get together for a bit of fun. There are no current Real drag racers taking part. They have other more structured events to take part in where the race organizers like Shakespeare and Santa pod make and enforce the rules.

Well done on clarifying that Pete
But maybe
Cars brought on trailers / transporters, cars in regular competition use and cars stripped or lightened excessively may be subject to additional scrutiny before being allocated to a class. The decision of the official on the day will be final.
needs a slight adjustment on the wording of the amount of stripping and lightening as when I read it it seemed a bit of a grey area or was it meant to be in grey text as rules are never broken unless you are found out ;)

The four of us who wrote the "rules" are/were just four mates from the same amateur club with a common interest in having some fun at various drag strips. The rules are a guideline. They were never meant and never can cover in minute detail every modification/ panel change etc etc that every individual may or may not carry out on his/her car.
At the risk of repeating myself again ... the system has worked without a hitch for 5/6 years with no diputes whatsoever to my knowledge. Ergo ...IMO it dont need fixing cos it aint broke (yet) Minor changes/clarifications have been made and normally we have accepted Mr Fs balanced view of these.

Over the years everything has been carried out in a friendly and truly clubman way in the true spirit of the Z Club. (as you well know from having been at a couple of meeets yourself). The concept of "breaking the rules" and "cheating" just hasnt featured with the members who have come along to play. The day that happens is probably the day that the four of us will cease to be part of it.
However... if you and Throttleton and anyone else wants to write another set of rules and subsequently administer them for the next 5 years then I for one will not stand in your way.

I rest my case.:D
I have nearly exceeded my quota of post for the month on one night:rolleyes:

Does "excessively lightening" include the use of c/f drive-shafts, gearbox casings, sump-pans etc ?

For the umpteenth time...............

as already said ... one email or call to Mr F will clarify most cars instantly.
We are running a friendly little series of events for car club members not running the European Drag Championship..

Blimey!
Didn't mean to upset anyone for sure.

I dont do "getting upset".;) 30 plus years of dealing with the general public on the high street has trained me to not get upset at anyone.
I had a classic example a few weeks ago at one of my regular shops.......
We(the shop) were unable to supply the lady with the items she wanted due to a manufacturing problem further up the supply chain. The lady(sic) was VERY disgruntled indeed clearly as she told me straight to my face that "if she had known before hand that I was in charge that day she would never have entered the shop":eek::eek:
The girls(ie the staff) and me had a realy good laugh about it after she left!!. LOL

hell yes me to
I would be more inclined to match your offers with the same money for him NOT to appear.
Its bad enough putting up with with his continual beligerence on this forum. much of it directed against one of my best friends. The situation of having him actually in my face at a meeting spouting the same nonsense is something worth paying for to NOT happen.
