What is your best Z moment mine was back in 1995 with the Z club trip to Holland and the track day at Zanvoort race circuit when Sean Dezart let me have a ride in his green 240z F**king Hell ,we then came back in at dinnertime
the Porche Race team we there and gave out rides around the track in the Zeds
giving out pointers to drivers about the circuit again i went out with a "MAD MAN" let just say in the hands a Race Driver i have never been so scared in my life just wanted to get out after the first lap ,5 laps later and BROWNUNDERPANTS he stopped. Best 6 day Z trip Ever.

That's nice of you - thanks !

Mine has to be the Swiss Trip in '91 - absolutely wonderful ! I won't bore you with the details but I MUST do something like that again before I die !

Don't forget we'll be having a 2007 French Trip - details will always be put up on this site first ! Sorry for the cheap shot publicity - back to the thread !

Goodwood '92 could have been there but I was seriously stressed out making sure the rest of you had a good time :)

2nd best was picking yp Cathys' 280ZX 2 seater from the south of France, driving up into Andorra and then down across to the Dordogne, her 7 months gone and never sure if the car would make it - nice little adventure !

C'mon, are we really saying that nothings' happened collectively - (I'm sure the run down from Scunthorpe was a blinder) for over 10 years ?

Where are you all - what've you done ?

The first time I ever saw a Z was locally back in the early 80s - A guy called Kevin Kemp used to build them. One of his customers took me out in a black 240 with the whole triple carb, cam setup in Ironbridge.

There is a big steep hill out of Ironbridge and we just topped 100MPH going up the hill - scared me sh*tless but got me hooked :D

Kevin Kemp - I've never even heard of him - how many cars did he do, anyone still got one around - I'm curious ?

My best Z moment is without doubt everytime I get in the beast to drive. Having said that there are a few that stand out. My first class win at gurston, A class win at new brighton sprint in the old white car having borrowed 2 wheels form brian baker because I had split 2 tyres in practice when I hit a kerb. The feeling I get when competing in front of club members at hillclimbs. Seeing the face of a certain competitor when Dee, driving my car, obliterated his best time by seconds and then her face when she returned to the paddock and saw her time. August last year when the car was once again on the track. These are in no particular order.

my best Z memory was the year they did the blind duck ,me and my mate did it ,i was driving a 260Z 2+2 and he was the co pilot but he was just pissing himself with laughter at me trying to drive round the posts blindfolded telling me to go left and right and i did not realise that i was not even moving !!! and the small time trial that tore up all the grass and was won by a suzuki whizz kid even though there were some fast datsuns going round and it was very hot and sunny.i shall always remember that day:D

Right then...

My Dad coming home home in a 240z that some guy called Reino Altonon (or something) had won a sh1te load of rallies in when me Dad was Datsun dealer in Hull (early 70's). The car went round all the dealerships in some sort of advertisement bid.

Me old man entered a local event that all the old car dealers did every year in it and trounced everyone, he made front page of local paper :D

Then hanging round with some girls I knew from school, driving round in their bright yellow (God it looked soooooooo fekin good) 260 2+2, that their Dad had bought for them (lucky - but well sexy and spoiled- gits) in my twenties.

Asking some guy in Doncaster (early 80's) if he would sell me his 260 and nearly getting throttled...that was a good one that

Test driving a white 260 in Bradford (mid 80's) and me old man put me off buying it :( I ended up with a Ford XR2 that got nicked 3 weeks later.

Driving all the way up to St Helens to look at a 'immaculate' 280ZX, and, when we got there, the doors had rotten through, there were holes in the floor and engine bay but 'hey, it looked good from a distance' (actual words)

Putting my hand through a bulkhead (engine bay side) last year and feeling the pedals...this was a car I was viewing as a prospective buy    moggy240 can testify.

Driving home from Maidenhead in me own 260Z.

Sitting in me Subaru thinking 'WHAT THE FEKIN HELL HAVE I DONE???'

Then driving the Z again, unable to stop grinning like an idiot.

Falling over the kerb coz I've been walking backwards looking at it.

and spending time on garage forecourts because 'old porn stars' are saying to me 'Is that a Datsun? Takes me right back, I had one when I was etc...etc...etc...'

:)

feck me but you made me laugh ! Thanks Housequake !
I feel humble after reading your Z history - for me, life began in 1989 when I bought my first one !

Ah well, you see... at least you got a Z in 89, I never forgave me Dad for putting me off the one I nearly bought from Bradford.

After having the XR2 nicked, I ended up in a Ford escort for 5 years trying to get my no claims bonus down, I got into Saabs after that, had three 900S turbos and then bugger me with a fish fork, did exactly the same thing with Subarus...I'm on me 3rd.

The Z was something that never went away, always came back to looking at pics of them, reading about them etc. It was inevitabubble that I eventually get one.
