Why a rear spoiler ?

technically speaking, a spoiler should lower the top speed of a car (being an obsticle to air flow) however, a spoiler will also allow more power to be transmitted to road. So I would guess: slightly lower top speed but it'd get there much quicker. I reckon the pro's outweigh the cons on spoilers.

What are the seals round your tail lights like? I had a bit of a similar situation on the 280zx and replaced both seals on the clusters. It helped.

Yes, good point I've heard of that too and forgot.

Has anyone ever tried a downward facing tailpipe on a 240 to eliminate fumes?

I certainly think I have better stability at high speed with a spoiler, but dont forget I also have a front air dam as well

Certainly when we did the 140+ at Bruntingthorpe (and other times:eek:) the car is very "planted"

But to understand this properly you would need wind tunnel data which unfortunately we dont have, I suspect that the spoiler is altering the low pressure differential at the back of the car caused by high velocity air trying to continue parallel to the roof

Maybe this altered model is favourable not only to performance but also in reducing fumes entering the car.

Ah, Skiddy's up there with Count Goertz, Mr K and the entire Uunited States customer surveys who designed, developed and perfected the car.
Well done Skidden - pat on the back and I'm still looking forward to seeing your in-board track-day videos............

ps I've decided that my 3.7 is the proper one for me (on the yellow peril car that is.........) !

Now then, lets not misrepresent (as per your usual modus operandi)
My diff is the right one for me and my application.

As for track day videos, well, I dont do them, I will leave it to the likes of you get hard ons watching re-runs of overtaking MG's and Triumphs on a painted road.

You will be seeing Matt in the next few days ask him how well it handles as anything I say you keep responding with "blah blah blah straight lines blah blah blah" change the record ffs

Come on Sean, your more in denile than an egyptian scuba diver

Hey, didnt you say in a post last year that by the end of 2011 you will have been on a drag strip and that you will have beaten me.....I can find the thread if you want but do you really want to be reminded of it.

Hey tell you what, how about this, lets take the cars as they are today, no extra mods, I will pay for you on a track day here at donington park where we can go head to head, then we can take a trip down the road to Santa Pod and go head to head.
Before hand we can agree a points system with so xx points for the differential on the track and likewise on the strip, EG 1 point per second on the track and 1 point per 10th on the strip.....

That way we will settle this once and for all, seems fair to me, what does everyone else think?

In fact if anyone wants to come along they are more than welcome (although I can only afford to pay for Sean)...this way we can save everyone the pain of reading all this malarky on the forum time after time.

Maybe we could have a little trophy.....maybe we could do it for real pink slips, eg car documents....its just a thought.

I like the idea but how about if you come over here and we do it in metric ?

Have you noticed how the thread has drifted (let's not say been spammed for politeness' sake) ?

Does anyone have any real data on WHY the euro market had read spoilers where elsewhere it was either an option or left to the after-market parts chappies ?

Shoot me down cos I don't know much about the marketing of the cars but were spoilers and sunroofs etc added to the cars at the uk/euro dealers request so they could bump up the price of what was a very reasonably priced sportscar at the time to line their pockets?

And I don't give a toss why they have or don't have a spoiler in what ever bloody market the car happened to be sold in, It was over 30 years ago for ***** sake who cares, What is interesting though is what is to be gained with or with out one fitted though it must be pretty obvious doing a few laps of your local track with or with out, I'd amgen you could feel it through the seat of your pants and by checking the stop watch.

I am interested to see the onion muncher handed his ass on track and strip though lol.
