Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into your whole setup, sounds like its going to be good. I look forward to seeing how it goes as I hope to carry out some similar jobs on mine when I respray the bay.

An undertray is something I'm also considering later on.

ZG fitting today

Have been looking around the net and other cars letely to see how ZGs are fitted, even watched the few youtube vids on fitting but they all seem to leave the lower sections of wheel arch which IMO spoils them so nervously i spent today with the cordless angle cutter and the mig to hand and decided to cut right round the whole circumference i'll let the pics talk its easier

Cheers mike The backs are quite a mission and was hoping the fronts were going to be easier, i have a plan for the fronts as well am thinking of moving the arch forward about an inch so when i put some castor on the front suspension i'll have no wheel to front arch clearance issues probably have to re make the front air dam as well at the front where the arch meets

Was undecided about using solid top mounts but after John (johnymd) took me for a spin in his car my mind was made up so work begun today thanks to Rob Gaskin who sold me a parcel of parts which had these in it ;)

spent the last 2 days finnishing and linishing any welds that needed leveling and preparing for the blasting prosess, spoke to a painting company about what i should use after blasting and they suggested an epoxy 2k primer now i was going to use an etch then normal primer but looking at the usa sites they all use epoxy primer on bare metal, reason being its not porous and bonds like mad giving bare metal a shell like finnish,

going back to the weld in top mounts i urge anyone doing this to follow what i done as a precaution so the struts dont pop through the top if you look at the link

CAMBER-PLATE INSTALL

IMO just welding the top plate on top is not good enough as the weld is only attached to the outer strut tower skin and not the 3 mm reinforcing section underneath so tu=is is what i done

Good work Terry

When you look at that roof it brings it home why Roll-cages are so wise of competition/track cars! Also no wonder S30s are so light in weight compared to modern cars - the body is very simple especially at the rear.

It must be so good having the facilities and experience/skills that you have. Many of us just have a single garage and DiY tools.

Now That was a good day set off at 6.30 this morning and arrived at the blasters at 7.45 it was a nice day so and gave me the option to have it blasted outside with more light, took the bloke 2 1/2 hours start to finish using a very fine beige sand left the panels nice and smooth, back to the workshop at 1 oclock had a good blow out to get rid of the sand and priming comenced
