What did you do to your Z this week?

What a PITA it is to get this panel off ...

Mind you, once off and loosened up for the first time in I don’t know how long, the workings are a joy to see ...

The heater panel looks almost new it’s in very good condition. Make sure the cables are free before you put it back. Mine were really stiff so I hung them up and dripped light oil on the end until it seeped through to the other, worked a treat.

I did it with my air-tube vent cables and it made a huge difference. Did it with my lawn-mower controls too :leaving:

Hi all, I'm Steve, I haven't posted very much despite owning my 240 since 2002, but after the end of a very long relationship I seem to have more time and, what do you know, more disposable cash, so I'm hoping to be a bit more active on here! With that in mind this arrived today, it should be fitted by the end of the week.

Hi Steve, where's that exhaust from? it doesn't look familiar!

Looking at the weld quality, is that a fujitsubo manifold? Did you get the newer or old style one? great choice.

That's the one, it's the newer one I think. I've got the actual exhaust coming as well but for some reason it's still at Stansted.

Yep, looks like the one on RHDJapan.com! We've had lots of discussion of the Legalis system, but ,maybe not so much attention on the manifold.

Well hopefully it's a little better than the stock manifold that's been on there for 47 years. And it's shiny so that's got to be good for 5hp at least.

Smart choice, they've got dyno charts vs the old system on the same car, it's quite a bit healthier then the previous system, so you should gain a good chunk more than 5bhp.

Spent a few hours replacing all coolant hoses and associated housings with new shiny ones. Started out as an idea to replace just the gaskets but saw some shiny parts on the interweb and got carried away with myself.
It's so easy to work on these cars!
Drained, changed and was back on the road in a few hours.

Before, with old hoses and thermostat housing.

New polished thermostat housing from the chaps at California Datsun. Old and then cleaned up bolts together.

Replaced anything that had a gasket. Timing chain and Fuel pump banking plates.

20200613_113740.jpg

Mishimoto hoses and braded hose to replace old tired originals.

Nothing leaking and all shiny.

Rocker cover next.

I’ve started the rebuild of the blue car. I was going to just replace the engine but that escalated a bit.
