Torqen prices up 30%?!

I was planning to make an order from Torqen soon for an inner shift boot, fuel sender and shifter bushings kit. Last week it was coming to less than £180 Inc postage. Now it's suddenly £223.

The shift boot was £54 - now £72. Fuel sender was £70, now it's £98! I know we've had some inflation and the pound is down against the dollar, which obviously makes it more expensive for them to import the parts, but that's ridiculous.

So it'll be cheaper for me to order directly from Z Car Depot now - the whole order with shipping comes to £207. Surely it should be cheaper coming from an importer like Torqen who are ordering in bulk to get costs down?

Anyway, if anyone else wants to order parts from Z Car Depot at the same time to save shipping, I'll happily post the parts on to you at cost price.

They seem to get most of their stuff from the US, its always been cheaper to use rockauto etc.

Yeah they definitely do. But it doesn't make sense that it's cheaper for an individual to order the same parts from a US retailer. Surely the idea of being a retailer is you manage to make it cheaper than it would be for individuals.

Yeah would use rockauto, but they don't do these parts unfortunately :)

How much is it from ZCarDepot with postage? I looked at some bits and as well as the purchase going up postage went through the roof also. One of them was a dash cap from eBay and it went up £80! The cracked look is in for now!!

I got it wrong earlier - it was $208 USD not GBP, so its actually even cheaper from Z Car Depot! £187 ish vs £223 from Torqen.

The word "bulk" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.

The simple fact is that the UK market for first generation Z parts is not really anywhere near large enough to make a specialist aftermarket parts import business which carries stock on the shelf commercially viable.

Certainly not in the internet age when we can all order 'direct'.

Am I missing something here? Youve factored in shipping costs, but not import duty and VAT? Which you will have to pay on both the shipping costs and the parts.
Also, Torquen being in the UK youll be able to return faulty or incorrect items should you receive them. They have to make a profit to be a business... Its a small price to pay for supporting a local UK business.

ah bollocks, yeah I forgot about import duty & VAT. That'll be it! I'm too used to ordering from Rockauto when its been such small amounts I've barely noticed the VAT etc.

Torquen just order from Zcardepot and keep little stock. Don’t forget to use your Zcardepot 10% discount code! Note in building my car from scratch I’ve learnt that even some new parts don’t fit so I can tell you the ones to avoid buying from Zcardepot if you message me whet your buying

Everything I've had from Torqen that came in an original box has had every label removed. Bit unsettling...................

Nice one thank you Kieron. I've actually been speaking to Z-services.eu and he's going to stock the 75-76 280z fuel sending unit soon, so I can make the whole order from him (from France) and it should be a fair bit cheaper than Z Car Depot or Torqen. But I'm sure there'll be some times I'll be ordering from Z Car Depot so I'll hit you up when it comes to it!

Appreciate the support. You've hit the nail on the head, let's say you order directly from USA, are you going to pay £50 to ship a £20 part back which you need to return?

We do actually have around £10,000 worth of stock sat in the warehouse in terms of 240z, 260z, 280z, 280zx and 510 parts. We are slowly building our stock levels for popular items but it's not commercially viable to hold everything here as the UK/European market is tiny compared to the USA.

To give you an idea, we have well over £500,000 worth of products in stock for 350z, 370z and GT86 which is our main market.

We only listed the older Z parts around 8-9 months ago, if we're seeing items ordered multiple times, we're ordering a few of them as they're obviously more popular. We're also improving relationships across the world with manufacturers for older Z parts, the bigger discount we get, the better prices we'll be able to offer you guys.

That being said, if you are looking to place larger orders with us, a discount is on the table. Just drop us a message on the support@torqen.uk email and We'll see if we can do anything. The more items we can get onto one order, the cheaper it'll work out in terms of shipping and therefore overall cost.

Don’t forget we also get 10% discount on parts costs (not shipping) with ZCardepot and if you bulk up you orders you maximise the shipping cost
