Are'nt most modern cars based on the same floor pans etc these days, not like the old days when they where built from scratch, the days when an Aston was an Aston a mini was a mini etc etc. Cars used to have a soul, modern cars don't seem to have this (well its either that or they have just made them much more user freindly) :D The modern car is an amazing thing the only down side is you can't do much with them yourrself when they go wrong & as we know dealers cost a packet these days so think I'm going to get a second classic for my daily runner.

Too true, but the only problem with having a classic as a daily runner(as I found out when I had the 260) is that they are always needing work doing to them.
 
Scirocco is VW 's answer to the Vauxhall Astra Coupe- and it may be cooler than the Astra - but generally not cool in any way.
What about SIARPC claiming 98% survival rate :rofl: for Aston Matins(which also are not cool)- what utter cobblers:rofl:
 
What a load of crap tonight, the eastern block scrap yard was way too long & total shit, we know how bad they were.
The fiesta test was also total shit & anyone thinking at buying one will have got nothing from it.
Oh & the veritas test was meaningless, who's going to buy one?
So the bottom line is the program could have been done in 15 mins with Boris & the caterham the only enjoyable bits.
 
I think you're all wrong on the Lambo. It's nowhere near as cool as the 365. I'd of thought that on here would be especially poignant. The Ferrari has the looks and the handling as well as great performance. The Miura looks great. That's it. It's reasonably competant up to around 70 and then it becomes dangerously uncontrollable. It's all looks, nothing else. It may well of been the pre-cursor to all "supercars" but super it wasn't (other than the drop dead gorgeous looks). The transverse mid-mounted engine was ahead of the game but the car wasn't. I'd take a 240 on the track. Supercar looks but sportscar handling.

Until VW Audi took over, all the bull had was looks. The cars were never as good as the Maranello stable's counterparts. Even when they were both making shit saloons and other crap in the late seventies. It's about how the damn thing drives or the car is pointless. Now they're not even Italian anymore, just massively over-inflated Golfs & Passats. And the GTR will still piss on them round the track.

Anyway, I thought tonights show was very good. That Caterham looked so fast, from the moment it started. Using 60's technology and a 2 litre ford engine with a little Lotus know how chucked in it kicked the crap out of that daft German effort. 1/4 million too for a slow track car... Good luck with that. The chase in the 'vette was great too. My favourite bit in the Blues brothers.
 
I though it was great but then I love Top Gear! Agree the communist car bit was a bit boring but I laughed out loud at the corvette and fiesta!
 
I just watched it this morning as I had it recorded of sky +. I have to say what a load of shite it was yet again! It's getting worse every week at the moment I'm not sure I can even be bothered to watch from now on if that's the way it's going.

Sorry Mr Ex :p I used to own a lada niva and a coupe in Canada,, and just got such a laff watching them on the show,,they really were crap :D I guess I take my entertainment lightly,,(go figure them silly Canucks ) :rofl: :driving:
