The most beautiful car in the world...

You wouldn't fit in it Rob and you'd certainly have trouble not pressing two pedals at the same time - I'd rather have the Alfa SZ !

No, I wouldn't swap MY Z because a particular production run was limited to 1000 - they might not even sell that many ! You like the car, the shape, the driving experience ....... or not !

Best thing I love about my fun-car is that I get in it, I turn the key and away it goes, no fuss, no leaks and then it brings me home, even after a hard-days Porkys' sh*gging on a circuit ! That from a 35yr old sportscar that can bite the ar*e off other more 'prestigeous' and modern cars gives me a right laugh !

Mr Ex - if THAT had been the 240, you wouldn't be driving one but jer*ing off over photos of one belonging to one of 337 lucky owners ! Now if Nissan had decided to make a "Lexus / Infinity" version of the Z at the time.......oh, but they did, and they called it a Z432R and we can't get them either !

Dale, Dale....a standard, road-going 250GTO produces considerably less power than a tuned L3.0 - I'd LOVE to pit myself against one one day on a track-day !

You just don't know that Nissan would have only made 337 for sure. They could have put the same L series engines into it as was put in the S30 AND even the twin cam and it might have been an even bigger seller.

It wasn't the engine that cost a fortune - it was the construction conception that ensured that it had to be effectively hand-built - not terribly reliable either or so the rumour goes !

I've not tried to sit in one - shame really as there were quite a few at the Autosport International show NEC I went to last Thursday. I believe the replicas are good too - reportedly better than the originals (?)

I like the SZ too. It probably wouldn't make my top 10, but it is nice and stubby.

Emotions aside; an AMV8 Vantage sells for about £85k new, but you can buy early used examples for less than half that and I reckon they'd bottom out at around £30k for a decent one over the next few years.
£30k is about the price you pay to build a fresh, well sorted. high hp S30. So from a financial point of view it's a no brainer as far as any straight swap is concerned.
A V12 Vantage is £130k new. Due to it's low production numbers and therefore greater desirability, I can't imagine they'd be dropping much below £100k ever.

I love the car, I love the shape, I imagine I'd love the driving experience. But if I got bored with it and wanted my Z back. It could be sold with enough cash to build another Z and I'd still be quids in.

Would you swap your 240Z for a Miura ??

Sounds like a fabulous investment Rob...................... - I bet you've calculated recently just how much your Z has cost you ?

Bastard ! What a question and one that I've often posed myself.............

No, but based on shipping in a "rust-free" shell, starting from scratch and ending up with all the goodies.

What do Miura's go for these days....£300k ?? Surely you'd be mad not too.

Yeah, sure t oo easy to say "yes, I'll swap then sell it on, buy another Z and have loads of spare dosh. Moving along from the school-ground Top-Trump mentality................I assume you mean swap to keep !

In that case, it isn't that easy - my Z is reliable, easy to get parts for and (almost) affordable - don't tell Cathy.......and I can drive it whenever I want to, even after leaving it for several months.

I don't have the budget to run a Miura therefore I wouldn't enjoy it therefore NO !

I could quite happiy have a full-sized replica built in the garden and sit all day with a long, cool something in a glass and just stare.

But yanking my Z around a track beats the crap outa that !
