Spike and samuri new web site

Big Sam MUST stay as it is coz it is an icon.
Yes way! That car deserves more than to be in a garage, shed or even museum somewhere though. The reason it's even remembered at all is because of Win kickin' ass in it. That's what it should be doing now. A regular 240 in the right hands can take names against every day boy racers. Sam would take it to another level. Nick, take heed to what Rob and Colin are saying. It'd put a BIG smile on a lot of faces (indeed, definitely your own) if you wanted to let him breathe in deeply again, even if it was just a few more times. Make a myth, don't cling on to one wondering what might of happened!

Bring it to Castle Combe! I've been in the Z club for 13 years and have always wanted to see this car. It would put a big smile on my face, just to see it in the flesh!

Anyone got footage of Big Sam in Rileys' hands at Goodwood in '92 - running against James and The Bluezmobile ? Lovely sound - Tim brought another car (UAR all blue and red) along that day too (supercharged). jcf - I could have taken those photos of Sam in Tims' shed - I was there, flat tyres and all and what a nice under-tray.

Can't deny it - any car, and especially Big Sam should be out there running. I guess that mods. would have to be done to run him in competitive events now ?

So even 'just' Japfest would be fantastic but there are some classic races over here that sponsorship might allow you (or others) to run in............

I'm too young to have seen Big Sam run seriously - for me he's a piece of Z motoring/racing history and a nice looking car - be nice to know more of him.

That same supercharger now hanging off the side of my 280ZX - see pic in sig...previously on a Southampton 240Z for a while.
Z history moves in small circles only...

Jakko, I mean for it to stay in it's present guise & do track days & NOT stay garaged or in a museum.

Just my 2p, but I think it'd be a shame if Big Sam changed now :) Plenty of other S30s about if people want to change them :)

Sam 75 looks to be sitting very very low & sexy in the last pic in Spikes project gallery, I think its fitted with 10 x 15 wheels on std length struts & no camber adjustment that I know of yet. So what I was wondering is how they get around the very limited damper travel & camber issues with the car riding so low !!! this is something that has played on my mind for years. Some guys I know have shortened struts so that would get the damper travel back but not sort the camber, others use std length struts, the camber issue I remember when I had my blue 240 I dropped it very low & when viewed from the back you could see it was sitting on the insides of the tyres it was fitted with 9" wide wheels under std arches.

A mate of mine sent me a close up pic of the Sam 75 rolling shell, I must say the way the car sits & the way the arches have been done is awesome, looking forward to seeing it when it is finished now, it is being done in the true Samuri way , it will be amongst my favourite Samuris of all time which are Big Sam, FFA & DDP.

OMG I have seen the car in the flesh now & must say it is possibly the best looking 240z I have EVER seen !!!!!!!, no pictures would do it justice, the way the arches have been done is just incredible they look like they belong there, (thinking of having my arches done the same now :()

You'll definitely have to come over to France now then......drive over, leave car and Ryan Air /East Jet back to the UK (La Rochelle) then Ryan Air / Easy Jet back to France and drive back with new arches and paint.

I'll pass your comments on to Martin.

Martin says :

"Thanks very much, a man with great taste, if the arches didn't have to fit those bloody big diameter race tyres they could look even better."

blimey gywn. the car must be the doggys danglies.
all that effort with solid top mounts not to cut your car up.
and now your wanting to bling your arches samuri style!
that's a bit french (get it. boom boom). :p

p.s one of my all time fav's judging by the pics as well.

It is the doggys danglies :bow:Still thinking it over about frenching my arches at the moment, it is a huge decision, as for the top mount job I am so glad I was advised not to fit them, Simon's car has a similar suspension setup to mine & think that is as far as you should go with a road car.

P.S. When you see it in the flesh it will be your all time fav :D
