Sorry to break in and interupt the great banter...

But, The fastest NA in 2011 will be no contest. Slick Pete will dominate in his Z32!

So as not to distress the faint-hearted by "hi-jackind" elsewhere :

Sean
I don't give everything away as some things you need to find out for yourself (Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime)

If you ask nicely and show an interest then I have no secrets.....you just don't know how to ask nicely......you want everything to be a public battle.:smash: ending with you or your views as the only one left standing.:(

Anyway stop hijacking threads.....

I take YOU as you are Mr Skid-Marks, repay me the respect and pleasure and return the favour but I have asked nicely, publicly and privately for the weight of your car and the best you would offer (YOU said that you wouldn't give it me) was 150kgs less than the HSCC declared wieght of a 240Z being 1040 kgs. Since 1040 should be taken with a large dose of salt..........you've just trailed smoke which isn't very sporting but that's the game I suppose. Or you're now claiming to have a Z which weighs less than 900kgs............!

I don't want to debate in private with you - I want to use this forum as it was intended, to discuss publicly, encouraging others' ideas and views and I might pay the price and be humiliated publicly - so what ?

On this subject, it's most often YOUR views which beat down all-comers, similar to technical questions asked - as soon as Mr F replies - the subject is dead.

I'm not intending to intimidate you...........and I'm not intimidated either..........but I AM going to scare you next year so practise and make sure that your car and engine are on form because I don't want any excuses.

Btw, no point teaching a man to fish who lives in a desert - not many drag-strips around here so just toss me a another red-herring will ya ?:D

OK let me get this straight.......I have NEVER said

you would offer (YOU said that you wouldn't give it me) was 150kgs less than the HSCC declared wieght of a 240Z being 1040 kgs.

All I said was you will need to lose 150Kgs if you are going to compete...that does not mean my car is 1040-150=890kgs at all

And that my car had lost weight

In fact my car has gained weight (me, R200, large tyres) and lost weight (carbon fibre, aluminium gear knob etc) the actual amounts you can figure out yourself as I have told you, stop being lazy and work it out.

Anyway stop making things up, read peoples posts fully......until you do this I will not play:D

I do hope that Steve's car (after what seems like an eternity since the Drag Challenge win) is up and running fully soon to its full potential. The endless honing must surely pay off with some staggering quarter times (in conjunction with the "right" foot). Sean, good luck with the drag racing. Like anything, speed is no substitute for the "skills to pay the bills" so I'm sure there is another reason for your public bating of the Skidmeister General.

Still think the Stapley Missile would win on the strip. It's a very trick bit of kit, that car, driven (hard) by the man. That's not to detract from anyone else's car as I know there's been lots (and lots) of fiddling done for the cause. Good luck all of you... No one here will beat Nick Tandy's reaction time in the Metro.

... and how come no one has backed Jon in the poll (he is currently the record holder and certainly not getting any slower)..?

Steve, it would appear you're becoming a bit of a peoples champion mate. Go steady!

Dunno ... Database error maybe :D

Dunno ... Database error maybe :D

Anyways back to the thread .It would be cool to have not only the times, but a spec list of all cars that took part. Another interesting experiment would also be some times of the cars driven by an impartial driver that won't trash the cars ... Perhaps a nominated Ztig.

No impartiality. Nice bit of fence sitting Jak:cheers: !

Steve - I'll answer in a moment poppet but don't include 'you' in the cars' weight - you is you and the car is the car;).

The “150kgs” was written to me in private and I’ve been asked not to repeat that which is written in private, however :

That lot alone reduces the car weight by over 75 kilos....and is worth around 0.5 of a second over a similar powered car

Reduces the 75kilos from what ? Do you still believe that a standard 240Z weighs in at 1040 kgs ?

1. Reduced from when I first started drag racing in 2004 when I ran a low 15 on triple 40's....remember drag racing is all about physics, you could run a 12 with 10hp if your car was light enough, you need a referance point.
2. Yes the standard 240Z (minus driver) is around 1040 kilos which is also close to the number used in HSCC scrutineering.

All I said was you will need to lose 150Kgs if you are going to compete...that does not mean my car is 1040-150=890kgs at all

And that my car had lost weight

In fact my car has gained weight............and lost weight

So what I really want to know is where you get the figure of 150kgs from ? You don’t know the actual weight of my car, you won’t share yours to compare anyway, you brandish most of your cars’ innards like a street-walker (I won’t say cheap ‘cos she aint) but don’t know my spec. yet you dangle some figure about like a lost cricket bat out to dry………….quite unlike you to guess !

And what about this :

I have a 2+2 that'll beat 15 seconds

proof that you have a lot to learn

So, before you make that statement, tell me what power and weight a 2+2 needs to have to drop under the 15secs ‘cos mine is not far from being finished and will be lighter than the standard 1130kgs quoted.

What do YOU think that it takes in power and weight to drop ,just under the 15seconds for a 2+2 ? I’m serious here.

Jak...................I need a reason ? I'm trying towarn him that he's preparing a great comeback, might even taste a sip of glory later this year but that next year I'm gonna whup arse. He started in 2004, 7 years later after a LOT less practice, I'm gonna drive my car over and trundle home with a record. Ask yourself - am I bragging, just hot-air - how well do you know me ?

Skiddys' weight and my weight are not the cars' weight but your point is valid - but why should I share myw eight unless Mr Kin'ell doesn't ?

Ben - I wonder if your time counts as it' aint a road car nor on road tyres.............

ah a class for every type colour engine configuration drivers age and no one competing against anyone else unless the cars are identical

Dont start things that you are not prepared to go on with mon ami.

I will happily run a set of road tyres on the car and set a new time for you if you think that the target is too far away from your clutches. The result would upset you though

I never asked for my time to be included in the hall of fame as it was set on an uphill less than ideal surface airfield but it would appear that the only one unhappy with the time being included is yourself. Could this be that you have realised that someone else can build an engine and car that seems to be slightly quicker than others.

Keep your fights between yourself and skiddy, open another bottle and chill. I look forward to seeing you beat skiddies time believe it or not. But that is because I enjoy seeing healthy competition between cars of simular age and design.
Thats why I am happy to compete in a class that consists of Porsche, E Type Jag, TVR and MG and not an elitist road legal Z only class

Love and kisses rain on you from afar mon ami

Nice reply  !

Skiddy's upset that it's only my views here so anymore are welcome - I wouldn't be upset to see you put up another time so come along, it'll just substantiate mine so much easier and in one go.;)

One class (road legal) and car weights to be disclosed (after the runs) and weighed on mobile 'scales' brought to the event. Like a boxers' or F1 car weigh-in.

I'd hate to see just Zs racing together - much more fun to see the other car owners sulk home.

Of course someone can build an engine and car slightly quicker than others - healthy competition is what is needed and I'm there to push Skiddy (and others if they can find the tyres) to further excellence.

I don't expect you to be at all upset with my results - I couldn't compete with you on a hill-climb but I DO expect you to be surprised.

A s for being upset with your time included - open another canny mate - just another coconut on the shy......................
