The seeded entry list is now out for next weekend's first round of the British Historic Rally Championship.

There are 84 Historic entries in 3 groups; MSA Category 1 (Historic up to 1967),
Category 2 (Post Historic 1968 - 1974 -that's us!) and Category 3 (Classic 1975 - 1981).

39 are Category 2 with 10 in our class C4, 7 x Porsche 911's, 3 x 240Z's.

Category 1 run first followed by Categories 2 & 3 seeded together. There is a modern event following the Historic field on the Sunday.

Dominic Frattaroli/Wyn Thomas are seed 4th (car no. 204) in Category 2, Duncan Pearcey is 221 with new co-driver Nigel Bennett, and Debby & I are 226.

There are 3 forest stages run in the dark on Saturday evening, followed by 7 on Sunday.

Spectator info is on the event website www.robinhoodforeststages.co.uk

my hat goes off to all these drivers and co-drivers ;) , to go screaming round heavily wooded areas at this sort of pace takes balls! come on the z's!!!

Grolls, don't call them passengers! They get really upset and we do not need a strike!:(

"Co-drivers", please!

Hugh,

Only one stage is listed as a spectator stage on Sat, I assume it's not run more than once, is that correct?

Is the service area used on Sat or do you just use the Clumber Park Hotel, it's not obvious from the info given.

I'm interested in seeing you on stage and at rest.

Good Luck, Rob.

We do not have full details yet. Final Instructions have not arrived yet and we do not get the road book until signing on after scrutineering.

There are 3 stages in the dark on Saturday, first car away 18.30 from Cumber Park Hotel.

Scrutineering, Saturday 20 min service after the stages and overnight Parc Ferme are at the Wilkinson Head Office, Worksop MR120/62557765. First car due back at 20.48. Restart is back there at 08.30 on Sunday.

Basically, that's all we know!

Hugh

if any club members are attending I'm a couple of miles from the stages around Mansfield (clipstone, blidworth, Thieves Wood ) & about 8 miles from Clumber Park Hotel. If u fancy a warm & coffee get in touch.
space for dossers if u bring a sleeping bag.

Just got back from watching the rally on Sat evening, it was great fun. Lots of interesting cars, smells and sounds. I was very impressed with the driving and 'our lads' put on a fine show. Those Escorts are bloody good though, Ray Bellm and David Stokes were especially quick. I look forward to reading the reports.

There must have been more 911's rallying in one rally than ever took part when they were built!

Good and bad news:

Dominic leads after the Sat stages, by 25s ! This is magnificent because there are some really quick cars/drivers in this rally. Where I watched he was right on the limit, came into a downhill square right too 'hot' and somehow managed to avoid a spin, gather it all up and shot off. His car is really quick, it would be interesting to know how it compares with the works cars of the 70's.

Duncan has retired after the 3 Sat stages (reason unknown). The exhaust note didn't sound right to me though, I think it was only on 5 cylinders, but I may be wrong of course. Pace seemed ok, he was in 27th place.

Hugh has also retired after the 3 stages with Diff mounting problems.

Let's hope Dominic can keep it up, it would be great for a 240 to be back on top again (remember Kevin Bristow in this championship?)

Read all about it!!!!!!!

:D Dominic kept his No.1 position and won!!!!!! :D
Congratulations Dominic and Wyn!

Fantastic result!

Shame about Hugh and Duncan but at least the value of their cars should rise. Demand for track and rally 240s must be at an all time high!

I got to Sundays Blidworth stage just as Dominic F hit the flying finish, he certainly was!
Later on I saw a red Z but didn't check its number. If our other 2 heros were out, who was that? He wasn't out for a Sunday drive!
I really enjoyed the older cars, as Rob says the sounds and smell are something else. When the modern stuff started to come through I went home. They did nothing for me and they didn't appear to be trying as hard as the older models.
I wish I had gone down on Saturday night now, the cold wind put me off. I must be getting old. This rekindled fond memories if the 70's & early 80's for me when I 'did a bit'.( at one time with a 180B SSS) Reckon I might be tempted to go again now.

Derek, from the 'Report' section of the Robin Hood Stages Rally web site:

The Robin Hood Trophy Rally – for crews who ‘retired’ on the first leg, but were in a fit state to rejoin on Sunday – went to Neil Parsons’ Escort RS1600 from the 240Z of Duncan Pearcey. Neil Calvert’s Cortina was 3rd, with Robin Shuttleworth’s Mexico picking up a road penalty and dropping him to fourth.

The story!

Dominic was so much faster than everyone else on the first stage, Birklands, that he built up a healthy 25 sec lead by the end of the night's 3 stages.

He then traded seconds on each stage with ex works Ford driver David Stokes (Escort RS 1600) and former historic champion Nick Whale (Porsche 911) but had maybe relaxed too much as Stokes was only 9 secs behind before the last stage. The good news was that this was another run through Birklands and Dominic blitzed them once again to end up winning by 17 secs.

Photo attached of Dominic and Wyn and their service crew Laurence and Rob.

Duncan Pearcey broke the moustache bar on his car but changed it on Saturday night to do the "Trophy Rally" on Sunday.

We broke the mounting at the front of the diff and the propshaft mangled itself on the handbrake pivot. Whilst we could probably have got back in for the Trophy Rally, with Laurence & Rob's help, we opted to spectate insted on the Sunday and to fix it at Laurence's workshop on the way home on Monday. I was already knackered before the rally even started!

Hugh

Not sure the photo upload has worked!
