Robin Hood Stages Rally

Fratteroli's Historic Win

Terrific Performance by Domenic to win his first Historic Rally last weekend !

And, it should be measured by the quality and quantity of the Competition - there are several serious Teams in the MSA British Historic Championship these days. We are talking guys spending around £100,000+ per year, with the very best Escort BDA's & Porsche 911's professionaly prepared & run as the Works Teams in the '70's, with BIG Transporters & dozens of Mechanics, etc...., so all the more credit to Domenic.
And, he also beat the Escort Mk2 BDA's ( in the Classic class, but doing the same stages ), by over half a minute !

And it must be said, much of the result was due to the Preparation of his Race Engineer Laurence Evans, who has doggedly developed and improved the 240Z over the past 3-4 seasons, which is itself a difficult task as there aren't all the Competition goodies available off the shelf as per the Escorts and 911's, so all the more recognition of his major contribution to Domenic's win.

Laurence also earned a lot of Brownie Points in my estimation by working with me to replace a broken Diff mounting ( until 1.00 a.m in a cold, dark Car Park ), so that I could compete in the Trophy Rally on Sunday..
Terrific Bloke !

Good Luck for the rest of the Championship, Domenic, you deserve to win it !

Sorry Derek I 'cut and paste' the text straight in, I've 'toned' it down now.

Yes fantastic rally and well done Duncan for getting back in action.

On Monday I saw a rally 240 (red) being towed on a trailer behind a van on the A5 near Hinckley, was that you on your way home Hugh?

I am not sure, Rob!

a) we don't have a van. We use an elderly Mitsubishi Pajero with tyres on a roof rack.

b) we diverted on our way from the Robin Hood (Worksop) to Laurence's workshop in Coalville, but I don't think we used the A5 on the way back to Southampton. Went A42, M42, M40, A34 which took us quite close to Hinkley but not on the A5.

c) yes the car is 110 red - no black bonnet. It still had the rally plates and numbers (226) on.

Duncan has a red van but Hinkley is not really on the way to Thirsk!

Phantom Van ( Lost ) on the M1 !

The Red Van you are referring to was the illustrious 'Z Farm' Van towing my own Rally car.... and No, I wasn't lost getting back to Thirsk from the Rally, the car was being towed down to MIRA ( near Nuneaton ), for an Acoustic Recording session for a Computer Games Company called Codemasters Ltd.
We did a half day's work in an acoustic cell with Rolling Road & all the gismos, etc., for the sound track for a Rally 240Z to be included in the next version of the Colin MacRae Rally 3 game.
Even got paid well for it, too !

Surprised, very surprised not to hear mention of the VERY reliable and powerful Dave Jarman engine and there are A LOT of 'off-the-shelf' performance goodies available from Dave as YOU ALL know !

Congrats to Dominic to whom the Escort driver said "just couldn't catch you and I was trying" !

Reliability counts - you have to finish to win even if you are the quickest !

Credit where credit's due chaps !

Congrat's to all who participated, persevered & completed the Robin Hood rally.
Keeping the Z's in profile etc. Laurence Evan's & Dave Jarman ,what a great
combination. To the Driver's,The pre-race service & engineer's, & all concerned.
Well Done.............................................DJZ 60.

the yellow wheel arches makes the car look very high...or is it the hanging in the corner?

When is the game appearing? Have you got a pic of your rally car so we can shout at the kids when they're playing "see the old Z is trendy!"
