Oustanding, I see you're taking no chances with the seam sealer :)

It's going to look incredible when it's all put together.

Also, to echo the point tel made, the guy that painted my car told me not to leave anything at all in contact with the paint for several weeks as there's a chance it will leave an imprint due to the paint being soft and gassing off.

By the way, what's the thing bolted to the pedal box, is it a flasher unit or something?

Hi Morbias, I have taken Terry's advice and removed the cling film, which to be honest I was going to do anyway.. I'm not to sure when paint stops being fresh paint as the shell was painted in March? Anyway the thing bolted to the pedal box, the silver can is the indicator flasher can or are you talking about the black thing next to it? If so its the sounder unit that makes the pong type noise. It's supposed to fit on the can but later models had a diff pin orientation which prevented them from being fitted. Another little mod by me to get it refitted.

Hi MaximG, where did you get the black thing that makes the pong type noise ?!. That's exactly what i've been searching for recently as i've just replaced my flasher unit and it doesn't make a clicking noise like the old one did.

It came with the car in a bag of bits. I had no idea what it was until a mate told me, as to where you can get one from, it might be worth asking Pmac he might have one lying around.

Ah yeah, the silver thing. I thought it looked familiar, just in a different place to where it is on my 260Z. Never seen the pong thing before, I will have to put up with the clicks on their own and remain pongless!

Didn't realise it was so long since you had it painted, then again sometimes I don't even know what day it is..

Hi Rob,

I will do an update on the car after the weekend. I have been working on it tirelessly over the past few weeks and have made steady progress. Unfortunately its been two steps forward one step back and yesterday was no exception to that.

Regards,

Mike

I will get your gearbox crossmember modded and back to you soon. Hope I'm not holding you up. Havnt see my car since it went in for paint so not looked at where it's fitted. I will get on with it soon.

What a top job! Great attention to detail, look forward to seeing the next installment.

So I promised an update after the weekend and here it is.

Quite a few weeks have been wasted as there were a few things the body shop had to sort out before I could really get my teeth stuck into it. Unfortunately because there was a delay in this it also put back having the trimming done which also slipped over a couple of week. So in all I spent a lot of time getting nowhere. However this is now pretty much behind me and I can now move on. Although another trip the body shop is now required for reasons I wont go into......

so pictures,

I'm really happy with the way the head lining went couldn't be happier.

The vinyl however could have gone better IMHO. I had to remove one piece and reapply. I kind of wish I had done is myself, but hay ho.

This is where I'm at today. Just need to get all the wiring back in place. Oh and change round some brackets that are mounted on the trans tunnel. They are angled and I managed to guess wrong in which way they went round.

You are doing a great job and like I said before there's no rush. I just had a look back at some early pictures of the strip-down, you've come a long way!

Good work! Keep it up!

Threads like this should be required reading for certain people, as an example of what it takes to do a proper job...

Nice work with the dynamat, very nearly done. As a matter of interest does it add much to the weight of the car?

Thanks guys, your encouragement is all much appreciated!

The Dynamat has been in for a while, as for weight I'm going to stick my neck out and say probably no more than the original soundproofing.
