Thanks for that John, unfortunately the car is still too far away from being ready to make it to Silverstone next weekend. However as a consolation I will be lol :D

Still not quite finished but going to go for an MOT next weekend, only have to go to the bottom of the road.

Also need to get everything together to get an agreed value on the insurance.

Well that was a slightly fraught morning. Got the car out for its MOT. Started going through checking everthing was still ok when I hit a bit of a snag and hour before. I had checked to make sure the wiper motor worked but nothing else. So when I turned them on this morning and they headed toward the bonnet confused thoughts went through my mind. So with an hour to go I had to remove the scuttle panel and figure out what the issue was. I checked the wiring against the old one but no issue there. So it had to be the way I had attached the mechanism. So with that in mind out came the socket set removed the mount bolts and dissconnected the mechanism behind. Moved it 180 deg re mounted everything and with fingures crossed turned it on. Few it worked wipers now going the right way. Slapped on the scuttle and wipers and drove down the road with 10 minutes to spare.

As for the MOT sailed through so its now MOT'd taxed and insured!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Mike you must now be a happy man all that hard work paid off now enjoy your car

Derrick ;)

Thanks Derrick much appreciated.

I will find it hard to relax and truly enjoy it until I've put a few miles on it and its not broken in some way. I still have a few niggling things to sort out. The gearbox seems to have a wine but perhaps it will settle down.

I'm also beginning to wonder if my master vac servo is actually doing anything. I will have to get out in it and remove the vacuum hose and see what difference it makes.

First thing though I need to remove the front bumper and put the SS one back on to get some photos.

I also need to sort out all the info Moggy needs to get an agreed valuation.

Luggage Straps

It never really stops.

I've been wanting to tidy these up before I put them back in the car but wasn't too sure how to go about it. So I took the plunge a few weeks back unstitched the webbing. Cleaned up and had the metal parts re zinc plated. Then a great chap in the indoor Stevenage Market re stitch everything.

So some before and after photos.

Now all I need to do is fit them to the car.

A quick update as to where things stand and I suppose the build thread for the moment ends here.

I finally drove my precious this weekend and not just to the end of the road. I took it over to Lee the Guy who did all the bodywork for a little bit of show and also to remind him he will need to have the car back at some point to tidy a few small issues.

I encountered a small problem of a sticky throttle which I think has something to do with the new carpet set I put in, will have to look at that. For some reason the indicator signal sounder doesn't work, now I know it did at some point but will have to investigat further.

Today I finished putting the passenger door card and handles on. At some point I'm going to have to get me some replacemet door cards they are looking very tatty. Then I took a drive up to see my parents, only a short trip up the A1. It feels sooo good to be driving it again and the S14 box is I have to say superb.

So for the time being its time to drive the thing and enjoy because that's what its all about.
