Rear camber prob..Pls HELP

Lee, if the side (NS) is 6mm in at the arch and the camber is excessive then the strut is surely bent or machined wrongly. Fixing that with adjustable mounts is something you shouldn't need to do on 'new' struts. You know that of course.

Cheers Guys

Yes Rob, You're right of course.

Can't imagine the strut is bent, it all seems good and looking at the space between the inner edge of the tyre against the strut it appears the same both sides.

Maybe the issue lies in the bottom arm????? looks ok though

I would take the rear wheels off and jack up the rear end and drop plumb lines so that I can take measurements to check where it is wrong or right before buying something to correct it . It's the same principal as if checking for damaged after an accident.

I believe MJP does a urathane adjustable top mount if you don't want the harshness of a solid top mount.
I think adjustment is limited though to plus or minus 2 degrees but check with Mike.

I had a set of K-Macs on the front of my BMW 2002 tii, they are easy to adjust, the range of adjustment from memory was +2. To - 2 degrees, so it's not the big range you get with the ones where you weld the new tops on the strut towers. However they are a good bit of kit and well made. I suspect you'll have to import them from Oz

One other thing, make sure your arches are the same on each side, it may simply be that one side of the car is a tad wider than the other, measure the distance from the outer lip of the arch to the inside of the wheel well as a quick reference. I've had cars with differences in the past, especially of they've had any panels replaced

They look the business

Easy to adjust I'm guessing.? What's the procedure?

There are 2 cap head bolts you adjust with an allen key through the hole in the top of the rear strut tower. I did have to notch 2 areas on the lip where the plastic cap clips on to allow me to set the strut to the maximum negative camber.

Might have to get some of those myself, my rear has nearly -2' of camber already from just it sitting lower than stock, in order to get best grip I might have to buy something like those adjusters just to bring it to around -1.25'

Understood Guys

Certainly I have had cars whereby the wheel sits in further on one side than the other....this has a definite camber problem.

Still be interesting to see Robs take on it when he pops to sunny kent this week

How about the adjustable wishbones.....Any recommendations there?

It looks like Gaz have let Lee down here - the damper tube appears to be welded into the hub-carrier at the wrong angle.

Lee has a great facility here (and some fantastic cars) his 280Z is a perfect example of why you should buy US!!!

NO rust!!!! With the UK bumpers etc it looks superb.

To be honest that doesn't surprise me! We have to run Gaz on MX5 and 2 overhauled dampers from Gaz had 12% difference when an independant engineer who does a lot of touring car stuff checked them on his shocker dyno!!

Where does that leave Lee?
I take it Gaz will have to sort out the problem?
This sort of mistake must surely damage their reputation?
They are supposed to be specialists in the field I am aware that anyone can make a mistake, but now is the time to see if they will recify the fault and appologise.

I think GAZ have a good reputation at the price point they sell at. I'm 100% sure they'll sort the issue out, for the cash I don't think there is a better package for the £1000ish.

Good to finally meet you Rob and thanks for your investigative time.

I suspected the fault MUST lie with the strut but wasn't aware that GAZ actually welded in a whole new strut so couldn't see how it would have changed

So you can imagine....armed with my new discovery I made the phone call to GAZ only to be told that they're ALL at a show somewhere....how frustrating.

I wonder who they think will pay the bill for disassembly etc?

Thats a massive improvement.

Those US bumper are just awfull!!
Interested in what you did to the bumpers and how they are finished, mine have a couple of little dents and was thinking of one day going to stainless etc,
Has anyone every tried to get a good finish with chrome paint?? If it exists?
