Project Candy Begins (rb25det 240z)

I would love to and it's definitely something I'm going to look into. Will depend on the cost to purchase all the kit vs having somebody spray it for me. Not something I've attempted before but definitely willing to learn.

I'm going to be doing all the body prep myself.

I'm in the same position!

Regarding the rotisserie - I struggled to get the brackets in the right places so as to get the pivot points at the same height - mine ended up 1cm different but the car still spins quite easily. Can you do anything different to the rear RH side ? Looks a bit precarious to me with the bracket only half on ?

Great eyes. Yes the original bar that came with the rotisserie was too short. I've made up a new longer one to put in its place.

I did mine slightly differently. down side being I can't spin the car 360 deg. as the bracket fouls on the upright - if it causes issues I'll just get some more 40x40 box section.

And the cars on the rotisserie that took a lot more measuring to find out pivot points than I imagined. It seems easy enough to spin but I've not done the 360 yet [emoji51]

Well I cleared away all the rubbish and went for the 360. She turns really easily but is currently top heavy. Looks like I'll need to lower the car in the mounts.

Yes, your pivot point looks about 5" below mine. My setup is similar to yours and my front brackets are at the extreme top of the vertical bars. I've put my photos on my build thread that you can compare.
I,m unable to rotate mine past 90deg as the rear brackets foul the vertical bars - but it doesn't feel too bad - a little top heavy still I think

Tyroguru has some good photos on his thread too.

Just seen your pictures of the car on the rotisserie. Definitely helpful, thank you. Your rear bracket is an easy fix. You'll be able to just chop the back of it off.

Well after a day playing around with the rotisserie and trying to find a decent balance point I was a little bit annoyed I hadn't fitted any parts to the car as I start to dry build it. It's a small thing but the new brake servo and brake master are in. Made me happy I'd atleast put one part on.

The clutch master is tight but still fits easily.

Well I got the balance point sorted and the car moves so easily now. Unfortunately the rear bracket fouls the stand. I can live with it for now though. I'm not taking the shell off the rotisserie again.

Is it just the bar that contacts the frame? In which case - as you advised me - just chop it off EXTRA:)

On a side note, did you add a secondary supporting pin? I did this, a far more robust pin:

Unfortunately it's not just the car. I think the rear stand is not perfectly vertical so the bolt heads from the clamps touch the upright. Next time I take it off the rotisserie I'll adjust it. It works for now though.

The doesn't seem to need the pin to stay in place. It sits quite nicely at any angle (just not upside down yet [emoji1787]). Have you added that extra pin yourself or did you get it with the rotisserie?

I added the pin / spacers myself from a box of bits I have! It's a lot stronger material.

I'm no engineer, but your longitudinal bar between the front and rear looks like its under a lot of compression - hence why the vertical bars aren't - vertical. Not sure if it's chicken or egg, but might be worth looking into..

Definitely something I'll check and get a spirit level out when I'm next with the car.

Yes!! Awesome to see you got it back. Are you happy with the work? Looks a spot on job!

Yeah im overall happy with the work. I think it's maybe 90% there but there's a few areas I want to tidy up when it comes to doing the bodywork. More than likely on areas that nobody will see.

I'm away with work at the minute so it's frustrating not being able to get work done on it. You managed to get your arches sorted yet?

I know the feeling mate..

Nope I'm stuck in Saudi and unable to get back to the UK for leave. It's a shite situation.

I have a new set of ZG carbon arches waiting to go on but the previous owner used some cheaper arches so the mounting holes are in completely the wrong place right now.

Thinking of waiting to do them once my shell has been stripped and blasted etc. Then the repairs can begin.

What rotisserie did you use!? Looks like the ebay one?

It's from ade Foreman light engineering. It's around £360 ish including postage. It's working out perfect so far and really easy to build up.

Probably best waiting until you've stripped the shell and welded up the old holes before starting on the new arches. When you planning on stripping it down and blasting?

That's the bugger! I knew I had his page on FB but couldn't for the life of me remember his name. I'll have to get one ordered.

Well ideally I'd like it stripping down ASAP but I'd have to find someone who could do it for me whilst I'm stuck here. My mate who does the YouTube Channel is unable to get down the garage unit as it has been closed with the current situation.
