Does the exhaust fit up alongside or do you have to drop below?

I'm not sure if I'm honest. I think it's a safe bet to safe the exhaust will have to drop down a little. Once it's all in I'm going to look at routing it and also at oval tube to give as much ground clearance as possible.

Great work guys, going to be very interesting to see how it all comes together and works in the running car. Are you going to have to do build a custom locator for the shift assembly or will the stock assembly line up close enough?

Good call on the oval pipe too, something that i'm thinking of doing if ground clearance gets a bit touch and go.

Well after 6 weeks away with work I've managed to get an afternoon working on the car. Only got the new Apex crossmember fitted. Wasn't too bad to fit after a lot of careful measuring and nervous drilling. There is a small gap between the crossmember and the tension strut mount brace. I'm going to need notch the crossmember holes slightly to bring it back 4-5mm. I didn't want to just tighten all the bolts and pull everything out of shape.

Here's the small gap I was talking about.

I think I've decided that I'm going to fit aircon to the car now. Probably going to be using this T7 Designs one. https://www.t7design.co.uk/3-2kw-compact-air-conditioning-heater-unit-55mm-12v.html

I've been doing a lot of measuring and unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to fit in same space as the old heater. I think I'm going to have to mount it to the bulkhead in the passenger footwell. Will be a nice flat area to mount it. I'm going to throw a seat in tomorrow and see how much leg room will be left with it in. [emoji1696]I'll then mount the ecu and new fuze box where the old heater was.

Looking really smart that. Funnily enough that T7 aircon/heater matrix is exactly what i’ve got planned for my car!

What are you planning for the rest of the AC kit? Hoping to use the RB standard AC pump?

I will more than likely use all the kit from T7 and the RB AC pump. That way I've got one place to go to for advise/problem solving.

You could just insert a washer/spacer instead of slotting holes?

I'm using a T7 heater. Thought about a/c but decided against the complexity and size. Also that is quite a high power consumption 135w.

The power consumption is a very good point and not something I'd thought of. I'm planning on using the odessay pc680 battery which is 16ah. 135w will be 11.25ah which doesn't leave me a lot of headroom to power everything else. I'll be using all leds for lighting so they won't draw much but fans and fuel pump will.

I had concidered using a spacer to take up the gap but it seems like a half arsed fix. I'll do some more time staring at it today and see if I can see a better solution.

It's ok, in my mind a spacer is less half-arsed than slotting holes in a new expensive crossmember.

No offence taken, it made me laugh.

Yeah I'm definitely not wanting to slot the holes on the new crossmember as the first option. It's definitely going to take a bit of thought before I start hacking away. Apex have suggested I might have used 5/8" bolts rather than the 3/8" bolts. Both are supplied in the kit and it would give me a little more wiggle room.

Well I think I've found the issue. It appears that the holes in the chassis legs are at different lengths. The left side that fits perfectly is 485mm from the centre of the bolt to the front of the chassis leg. The side that is just off is 477mm. So the holes to mount the crossmember appears 8mm to far forward.

I don't suppose if anyone has any spare time would mind measuring theirs?

Wow what great work, just read through all of the pages. I will be following your progress with interest, especially on the RB front, as I have the same engine, and will also be running a Haltech.

Id love to say the work is mine but all metal work has been done by Andy at Auto Panel Solutions who makes all the rhd and repair panels. Hopefully I'll have all the rebuild kit for the RB arrive Monday so I'll be able to start on thst soon.

Sorry for the late reply - only just seen your previous post for some reason :-(

Probably not what you want to hear but, mine are 485 mm both sides. If you want any other measurements just ask.

Phil that's great. Thank you for taking the time to take some measurements. Yours being 485mm is exactly what I wanted to hear. I've used a die grinder to elongate the holes so I'm 485mm on both sides now. Everything fits well now.
