Price Guide

I thought it was obvious I was talking about car over here in Europe (because we're talking about prices within the UK) but for the record - I'm not slurring ANY car that remain in the States not passing unfair judgement on those exported.

I won't repeat what has already been said above - all I will add is that I'm referring to those USA LHD cars that have been sold and crossed the water - I can count on one hand the nice cars I know of and even then, the owners spent more money changing 4spd boxes and soft suspension.

Cold showers taken, back on topic please !

Too tired to translate word for word - here is a rough idea of what I produce for the FRENCH market - this thread would normally be closed to keep it visible and untainted by 'discussions', comment would be encouraged in an open thread* (see below) :

A car with body in T.B.E but with mechanical and / or inside 'tired' can command a higher price than a well presented but with rust underneath !!! With our cars, is the body that counts - ALWAYS!

Get tips and advice available free here by people who know their cars and who also travels to see cars for sale.

For Fairladys, values here are indicative of prices paid (** Values based on prices known sales) in the last six months here and the Foreign and given the low amount of transactions, given that prices are guide.
Also note that the main source of car parts and is the US so think about the land and maritime transport costs, import / approval and registration.

Finally, the prices noted here are the best you can get, a guide and depending on circumstances can go for less.

I'm back Chris, was June's birthday so she wanted another trip to Devon, also got her a wing walking exp,off to Kos in a couple of weeks,Pmac has sent casing off to be machined,he is on holiday ,back very soon, havnt forgot, could be a few 4 speed boxes about that Sean might know about if any good to yer

People that can't get 5 speed boxes for s14a conversion,I thought everyone new all about that

Well I did, allegedly, now get yourself off to work yer lazy git, can't spend all day on this thing

If we want to get nit pickin' about S30 prices how do we compare an early 260z v a late 260z. The early 260Z is a rare beast and more akin to the 240z. Some say it's the best of the 240 & 260/280 and some call it the 240 and a half, so does it merit it's own place in Z pricing?

Unless such a car has any special interest (?) then it'll be classed as a 260Z 2 seater - no more, no less imho.

Unless such a car has any special interest (?).

Hmm, might have to have a section for the colour........................red & brown & white ones, subject to full authentication ofcourse ;)

But let's not go there.

Back to the topic, I think the general buying public, eg those who would look at Price Guides, will just want to know the main models, it's then up to the seller to convince them why he values his car at what he's asking for it.

Sean, you don't have a 260 2 seater in your guide.

Never sold over here and so very, very rarely imported* privately....and what I posted up is a starting point - can be altered for the UK market where it obviously does need to be included.

*280Zs are much more popular !

The 260 must be worth a mint over there then, especially being rarer and a better car than the 240 in a lot of people's opinions

The 260 must be worth a mint over there then, especially being rarer and a better car than the 240 in a lot of people's opinions

Surprisingly then it isn't so there must be a fault in your logic :

a) rarity is no gaurantee of increased value - one needs the desirability too.
b) perhaps the fallacy of it being a better road car doesn't translate into value today....after all, the 280ZX is an even better road car...!

Correct about the rare ritzy bit there boy and the 280zx bit, loved mine even thought it won the best bores award ,it never let me down, loved it,loved Rob henshaws 280 ,remember ? Best colour scheme for a Zed ,great sound when you put yer foot down, was tempted with the blue and silver one that's on eBay but at the moment it's too much for a 280,

Well said Rob.

Also condition is very subjective.

I have never seen a 'concours' S30/240Z/260Z in the metal or in an advert so we can discount them from any discussion on price, if they exist they will be rarely for sale.
When I say 'concours' I mean a car that would score 90 points+ at show
Check out the concourse (or near as dammit) listed at barons auctions Newmarket for July 12
