Non-Z work: rad, fan and ammeter

my brother in law wanted help with his TR as it spluttered and coughed as we pulled up in the field at the Goodwood revival - good job as he wouldn’t have made it to the members car park.

So he’s decided to improve cooling which involves upgrading the weedy 28A alternator to 45A at the same time.

I cannot get over how well the 16” Spal fan sits over his rad!!! I’m secretly very envious.

But then I bought a £12 eBay Range Rover Lucas ammeter to canibalise and insert into his one to keep the decal stock. (Oh and we’ll run better cables too).

I’m stunned at how WW2 the thing is!! But it bloomin well works!! Has anyone dissected a Z ammeter to compare with this one?

The rubber seals were WW2 also - they turned to powder as soon as I opened the case!!!
