Near mint 260Z

You've never had a 240 so what do you know - how can you compare ?

What does better value mean to you ? Better condition for the price - I agree ! Better investment/re-sale value.....nah !

never had a 240 but had a 2602+2 that for me (before any one jumps FOR ME) I found it a bit of a shock to the system and a bit crude and If as I have been told the 260 was more refined than the 240 I judge things on that

glad you agree that it is better condition for the price that is as good as I'm going to get

Investment/resale value, if you were to sell this car on doing nothing to it except mainaining its condition and sell a general 240 on also doing nothing to to it exept maintaing it it to its same condition would have thought the 260 we are talking about has the better resale value

I'm very tempted to buy this one aswell... it sounds too good to miss, but l don't really want a 2+2. If it was a straight 2 seater l wouldn't hesitate.

I agreed with the seller to buy Zep for 9k. Top price for a top car. I decided at the last minute to buy all the spares he had for another 3k.
Dean.

but Paul newmans 280ZX sold for $100k I believe so does that make the 280 a better value
does that mean that the newman car is 9 times better value than zep or even make zep 2 times better value than this 260
the answer to this is no
a car value is what each successful buyer is willing to pay for it not what each owner wants to sell it for
for me I have never worried about the resale value of any car I have ever owned as I have the car for my enjoyment and not as an investment
IMHO any Z owner who buys a car for investment is going to get a rude awakening as they will never get back what they pay out in time and expense whilst owning the Z/ZX

I don't usually comment when people offer cars for sale but this one is the dogs dangley bits. It won best in class at Swapmeet and was narrowly beaten for best in show by Vinz's bling machine. A few more purists voting rather than magpies and it would have romped away with the trophy and derservedly so.
The car is in fantastic condition and anyone with the money should rush out and grab it. I doubt there's a better one in the country. It will only go up in value.

Steve - I've spent as much money on Zeds as the next man (and probably more than most) and I always get back what I put in :) !
I know what you mean - always buy the best you can afford and this car is worth buying (not for an investment) !
What I said (I still believe) still stands - the car won't sell - why not, NOBODY ASKED ME THAT QUESTION !).

Because as Derek stated it should have won best car and the owner knows it and so I reckon he's put his reserve price up too high ! Face it, if at £4500, the reserve price had been attained, there would be flocks of people bidding on it, trying to own it !

I did not imply Mr Burns that the car wasn't worth at least £6000, it is TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS A 260 2+2 ! How many people out there want one who haven't got one already ?
A lot less than frustrated 240Z owners and some of them might be tepmted to bid on this one as it's still a Z and not gone all porcine like !

ha ha !

Steve, what have you got out of the club ?

I said "and I always get back what I put in" ! What is silly about that ?

Well it looks as if you were right Sean, it didn't sell, but what it did do is beat many 240/260 2 seaters for price hands down.

i see the owner has one of two choices; put it in a carcoon for a year or two and then try again or swallow pride, contact highest bidder and go with it!

If he doesn't contact the highest bidder, it won't go for the same again, shouldn't be greedy - it IS a good price for a 2+2 :) !

I think you have misread the bit about a silly statement it was refering to my statement "how much water did you get back a couple of years ago:eek:   :D" not at your statement "and I always get back what I put in"
as Nina Simone used to sing "Please dont let me be misunderstood"

I've tried Steve and I can't work out what you were referring to or to whom you were writing !
And wasn't it The Animals that sang, oh lord, please don't let me be misunderstood ?

released originally by Nina Simone in 1964 and the Animals released a cover version of it later in the same year

sure I heard about a Z car and a ditch/ stream and a car submerged in it somewhere of course could have been missinformed;)

Right here's my take...

Sorry 2+2 owners, to most people it's a less desireable model. Sure if you want practicality it maybe better, but who buys a Z for that? Didn't Fourways convert a 2+2 Ferrari 250 GTO or something to a 2 seater, at great expense? Why'd some nut pay for that? The 2+2 just doesn't have the roof line, like the E-type. The Z32 hides it nicely though, so also sells wonderfully, but still if you want a pure sports car you get the SWB again.

Also bear in mind ALL Z's have been under valued & eventually prices WILL go through the roof.QUOTE]

Depends how far through the roof, they'll never fetch Porsche or Jag or haha Ferrari money, they are Datsuns, much as we love them they don't have the marque for the big bucks.

I think if Nissan hadn't produced the Bluebird and Drizzle, sorry I mean Sunny, then the car would have met reserve. Lets hope these cars are quickly forgotten and that people only remember the Skylines, and 350z and such.

One thing for sure, the car in question was very nice, would have happily cut the front off and welded it to a 2 seater rear ;)

I personally think, that a car is not purchased just because of the roof line or
because it has bonnet louvres or whatever. An overall smell, feel, look & wow
factor lures one to look at/into buying one.It doe'snt matter wether,it's a DATSUN or associated with a sunny laural etc. THINK! where was the interest
in Japanese cars(that is: by way of mass following?) Thing's change with time.
I have the same attraction,towards the 260Z 2+2 as I did 20
years ago,& have had four(including a Spike-conversion).240Z,as mentioned
a classic,a fun car but so's a beetle.
I think,Chris should hold on a couple of week's & re-advertise the car.
He did the right thing in sticking to his reserve & I think I would do the same.
Read this in 5 years time..... & you'll be bowing at my feet!
cause I Am right. DJZ 60.

:S30: iv had a few Zs over the years some 2seaters some 2+2s and loved them all for different reasons my faves were my 280zx 2seater and one of my past 260 2+2s why do some people look down on the 260 2+2 ( them with the 240z ) it seems,it is after all a Z from the same place as all the rest and by now more rare a car than most of the rest. its this narow minded veiw that will hold this club back i thought we loved the Zcar?? but owned the one or ones that suited us personaly. just because some of you say its a lesser car does that meen it is??? i dont think so....

have i got it all wrong????
