No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no why would you want to sell something as beautiful as that? I bet if you do happen to sell it then the morning you wake up after selling it you'll be in tears, and it won't be a little sniffle, it will be a full on bawl and howl, and i wouldn't blame you one little bit.

Well its on spikes own samuri register site and i quote from Irons from a mainstream classic magazine in 2007 5 page article " a lad I worked with Ross Ferguson, who had been working at silverstone as an apprentice with the F1 Arrows team told me ' There's a guy you have to meet if you want this thing (the 260) 'to go quicker - then he introduced me to Spike" The work was carried out in states, as and when funds allowed "We did about 9 or 10 260's" recalled Anderson................

So just because that current owner, Glyn Jones, maybe didn't word his ad correctly, don't discredit the car.

Here we go again, i cant get my head round the fact that everyone on here has a common intrest in zeds and a few people insist on slagging other peoples cars off. as far as im aware jonathans car was built when kevin irons and spike were working together, just because the relationship between the two turned sour dosnt mean the car isnt a samuri, thats like saying if you get divorced your kids arnt your kids anymore.or is it just my twisted way of thinking

Slagging off ?

Just asking the question and NOT assuming anything.

I still don't like the rear end and for that price I'd expect the details to be 'right but hardly slagging off the car.....I agree with you re who built the car - if it was Made In Samuri, it matters not who was hands-on - it is a Samuri............but I thought that the point in question was whether or not Spike did it and not whether or not it's a Samuri......or are we now calling them Series 1 (Spike), series 2 (Kevin) and.....series 3 ?

Anyway, genuine or not.

Two bidders desperate for it, one overseas.
Rumoured now at 30k plus in this bidding war.

Well done Jonathon.

Ha ha good effort Rahail

And it amazes me that people who don't have any basis in fact can make assumptions about the cars history.

I have the facts from both parties, Spike told me he did touch it, Kevin told me they both did over a period of time for cost reasons. So it is what it is and it's mine and it's gonna stay that way, sorry for having stirred up the subject again.

Oh and for what its worth Sean, I don't particularly like its back-end either, never have. ;)

I did the back end and I am sorry now but I liked it when I rebuilt CAB ( with great support, discussion and advice from/with Spike and Kevin) in 1990/91.The best part was that I had a pair of new full rear 1/4s but sold them to fund the rebuild.Shame we did not use email back then or this particular discussion could have been put to bed.

OK

Seeing as this forum “should” be the definitive source of truth for the S30 and we always seem to tiptoe around the hallowed ground of samuri I would like to ask a few questions.

And before the keyboard ninjas sharpen their tongues….this is not in any way shape or form a post intended to “slag” undermine, snipe, dig, or otherwise pay any derogatory comment to anyone’s pride and joy, so toys back in pram boys and girls.

My question is why does the samuri connection add any value too or enhance an S30’s kudos ?

Additional questions I would like to see answered are

There is no standard spec for any “samuri” variant so what makes a samuri a samuri?

Outside of “Big Sam” fame, Samuri was never sanctioned by anyone of any importance and didn’t have anywhere near the profile of its contempories so why the fuss?

The conversion specs that we see range from a mediocre valve job to full on race prep, were they actually any good?

There are huge gaps in the history of samuri/samuri conversions and as such many cars link to any Anderson or Irons DNA could be clouded, are we clinging on to holy relics only to find that they are bits of tat.

Is a Spike samuri the same as a Kevin samuri (value wise)

Few people outside of the UK have even heard of samuri but people in the street often confuse them with a sanctioned Nissan initiative why is this?

In 30 years’ time will a car have additional value because it has a DJ road and race crank damper on it.

'In 30 years’ time will a car have additional value because it has a DJ road and race crank damper on it.'

I should bloody hope they'd add value straight away at the price!!

But on a serious note, it's a very valid point by Steve.
I think what we have is the fact that on the uk race scene 'big Sam' was our only point of reference for the 240z enthusiasts to look back on.
And anything connected to that past glory is 'hoping' to be tarred with the same brush of sorts.
Right or wrongly i think anything that raises the profile of the badge is positive.
And theyre quite a few anorachs outside the uk who have read up on the Samuri Legacy.
