Lime 112 240Z restoration

Interesting, they shaved the side repeaters and the wiper openings, usually it's the door handles that get it first!

It might be better to use a wire wheel for the tight bits, then scuff it up with 80 grit before priming

I'm moving on now Rob! :p The condition is fantastic though. Terry, how did you find getting into the corners like that on the door edges with the strip discs? I've only done a fuel tank with mine, which doesn't have particularly tight corners to get into.

I know you are going standard with this but browsing lime green Zs I saw this sexy thing, sporting my air dam of choice and looking nicely snug on its wheels:

Not trying to upset anyone Rob just trying to bring some rejuvenation to the forum  I'm sure someone said '' keep the pictures coming '' Richie is to long I the tooth to worry about me ;) besides the more pics and info a perspective buyer can get is for the better yes, I bet Richie looks at the bottom of the doors more closely of his next perspective purchase

As for the hard to get places Richie Morbias beat me to it but I use brass wire wheels in a cordless drill and roloc pads in an air tool

I was only joking Terry, your 'build' and resto. threads are fantastic.

It just shows what an advantage a dry weather state is for keeping cars rust-free. I was out in my 370Z the other day and got BLASTED by the gritting lorry - outrageous. I have a couple of small paint chips now, the force was ridiculous. The councils were on the internet the other day saying how prepared they were for the snow and how many tons of grit/salt they have to shower us with.

Rich, that front spoiler is def. that - a 'spoiler' it dominates the appearance of the car.

That spoiler is exactly the same as the one adorning the front of my car...

Lol.. i think its just the lens on the camera that's making the front spoiler appear more dominant than it really is

Richie, the back wheels look very interesting on that car. Have you got any side shots of it?

That's the only pic I've seen, although judging by the bronze colour of them, what you can see of the spokes, and the lip, I reckon they are Watanabe R-Types on the back.

Edit: just found another pic. Confirmation - Watanabes:

Lime, well not so lime

stayed a bit late at work today and splashes a bit of epoxy grey on the bare metal bits and the prepped areas just booked it in for the paint shop in a couple of weeks

Looking great Terry, following your build with interest.

The pads you used to remove the paint appear to be a great alternative to blasting.

How did you approach the inner door area? Did you just scuff it up rather then remove the paint and then epoxy primer it? (Virgin bodyman trying to make sense of it all...!)

Coming on well.

Can't believe you are going to have 3 Z's, that's crazy, original, hybrid and modified retro.

Those poly discs look perfect for my job in hand.

Could you tell me what grade of poly discs you are using ?

I'm going to buy a load in ready for stripping my car.

Cheers

Nice. Cool colour.

Lots of in-paint and post-paint pics needed!

You never specified colour Richie :D

spent Wednesday and Thursday night prepping the wings and bonnet best that I can and then epoxy primed them ready for the high build 2k primer filler, then soot pad and block back next week, now don't be fooled that the filler is for rust repairs its there to get a straight and spot on panel fit

note the wings 2k epoxy primer inside and out luverly

Disappointed to see it without colour on it today. You really need to pull your finger out Terry.

I'll start day 2 of the build tomorrow and may even join Darren on Sunday so if your not careful I may catch you up.
