Not just me who wants the Histrix then
Nope they look awesome, someone should buy a set :D I thought some of the issues with these seats are lack of head restraints in an accident though. Lovely looking seats though Liam I quiet see why you bought them.

Holy thread resurrection!!!

It's been over a year since my last post and my god what a year it's been.

So what's happened?...

Well, I moved back to the UK from Saudi for good, I got married, I bought another house (this new one has a double garage!!) I bought a sausage dog (shop dog) & I started a new job... so it's been a pretty action packed year. Enough about my personal life.. the Z!

So whilst I was in Saudi I received a message from someone saying they knew where there was a shell for sale and asked if I was still looking for one. They were unsure of specifics so they would get me details on it, but all they knew about it, was that it was stuck in a workshop somewhere in Ireland.

Within an hour I received images of a rolling shell and a phone number to call if I was interested. I called the number and spoke to a nice elderly Irish dude. He gave me a back story as to how he had it, the work that has been done to it and why it was currently a rolling shell. He said he would go out and take some videos of the shell for me and let me have first refusal.

Within an hour of that.. a deposit was sent and I was the owner of a new rolling shell. It was a huge risk, I hadn't seen the car properly other than the videos on whatsapp, no-one had viewed it for me, and it was thousands of miles away in Ireland. I organised transport through Shiply, the guy collecting it was an absolute legend and totally understood the situation. He loved Z's and said he would give me the all clear on sending the rest of the funds.

My phone went ping and I got the all clear. I was so excited!! FINALLY SOME GOOD LUCK WITH Z's!! haha!

So here it is... the new project. A 1978 UK RHD 260z.

So I finally got home, purchased myself a new daily driver and was able to get across to see the new car with my own eyes! I am now a 3 hour round trip away from the unit! Booooo!! The daily driver cleaned up well!

IMG-20210414-WA0014.jpg

The 260Z floors and rails have been replaced and strengthened, the rear arches replaced, some patch work behind the seats on the cubby hole upright and a few patch panels here and there. Nothing too drastic, but not a spot of rot in sight.

In the mean time, my friends RX7 had finished being painted and he wanted his own garage back so my Datsun parts had to go! How dare he ask for it back after 3 years!!! I loaded up the daily and shoved a load of new parts into the back of the Z until I could get over again to collect more.

IMG-20210411-WA0005(1).jpg

I had to try the new seats in the Z! LOVE THEM!

Parts were still arriving from all over the world due to the delays etc, got some nice RB bits from Australia and some parts from Japan and USA.

Various engine bits - Cambelt, rocker seals, adapter to allow me to run my Bosch DBW throttle body, new ignition barrel etc

IMG-20210505-WA0006.jpg

Clock Work Customs LS1 alternator kit. Allows LS alternator to be fitted onto the RB.

IMG-20210506-WA0006.jpg

2 x RHD steering racks (yes it was xmas!)

IMG-20210505-WA0008.jpg

R200 Finned rear cover

IMG-20210505-WA0009.jpg

Nice new Steering wheel and RB threaded Datsun leather gear knob for the interior!

IMG-20210505-WA0018.jpg

Technoversions front diff mount with upgraded polymount.

Sounds like you've been having some good times recently, good life progressions, happy to hear.

And glad you have a solid shell sorted. Will be good to see this progress. Once both our cars are on the road it would be great to get them together sometime. Once mine is on the road I will likely come to England for a remap after some possible minor changes and of course to let Restoshack see it completed and running.

I may soon be only working for 6 months of a year, so I should have plenty of time to rebuild mine, just money that would delay me. Unfortunately being at home more means more spending on food and fuel and the weekly necessities that I do not require while at work. But of course more time to build, drive and ride my bikes and cars and get them to shows.

I finally got round to moving some of my rebuild parts into my new garage! Lots of space to work in but its got that "new build" feel.

IMG-20211020-WA0017.jpg

Bought a tool chest and tools to help with the rebuild. I want to get a decent setup in there eventually (work bench etc) but managed to snag a storage cabinet from Facebook sales for £100. Fed up of the grey walls I decided to give the walls a lick of paint (will be 4 coats in total when I get finished) Just have to finish the painting and then I can get onto resin coating the dusty concrete floor!

In between doing that, the new Z was stripped down to a bare shell and was then ready for... you guessed it. MEDIA BLASTING!! WHY OH WHY LIAM?? YOU NEVER LEARN haha!

Car loaded up onto the trailer nice and early, ready to go over to John the blaster in Wetherby to work his magic.

Shell dropped off with John....

As a puppy... all innocent and cute.

I don't want to give too much away but he said something along the lines of... this car has had some hours put into it, you can see that from the repairs.

The DVLA says the last tax expired in 1986 so it's been away in a barn or wherever since then 🤣

Not sure how to feel that it's had welding done and was only on the road for 8 years 🤣😅

Are you upgrading your rear suspension as you will need to if you want to fit the R200 finned rear cover

Yes mate I will be!

I've been trying to find something that can accommodate the finned rear cover.

Currently in talks with Apex about a custom rear subframe. If that can't go ahead I'll be going exactly as per that image and getting the AZC stuff.
