Japfest pics and vids

No problem its got to look a lot better on a big wide screen with good sound than a PC screen!!!!

May not be able to upload the DVD yet but I can take some stills off of it for you. Being a video they are not high resolution photos.

I started last but passed half the field in the pit lane good stuff

This white zx has four wheels but not all pointing in the same direction. He needs an even bigger rear wing.

Passed these two before going into Tower Corner

Two more on the Start and Finish

Another up Avon Rise

Two more before going back into Tower corner and now I had a clear track. Marco started up front and had got away so I had to catch him up.

JF14.jpg

By the time I could get close Marco was passing some of the field. This car had a good amount of roll probably soft springs not helping the driver

JF15.jpg

Now I could smell his exhausts and was getting excited

JF16.jpg

This is where I went a bit OTT and went past a car when I should have waited behind. Sorry mate glad you had your whit’s about you and did not turn into me. It would have been all my fault

JF17.jpg

After making the above blunder I took it steady for a lap following Marco on a clear track and was going to follow him home. Then we came up behind some more traffic.

JF18.jpg

Marco got well off line hear and I knew this corner could not be taken fast from the right side and he would end up wide so I just had to pass on the exit.

JF19.jpg

Past both cars before Tower Corner

JF20.jpg

JF21.jpg

This is the last car I saw before doing a couple of clear laps

JF22.jpg

The Chequered flag is just visible below my rear view mirror

Cooling down lap

Heres RobZ32's video

I have edited it to get the length down so it will fit on you tube. Had to remove all the great laps he was doing with no one else in site after he had blitzed past them all.

If you want to see these laps send me a PM and I will do an edit of just those bits.

Cheers

No I get bored looking through hours and hours of video that I have done myself. At least yours was new to me so I had to watch it all the way through and it was easy to edit in the fact that it was all the same angle etc.

You seem to have given the rest of them a lesson on how to drive the circuit anyway.

Darrell

I need to apologise to Marco for saying he went off line before I passed him. After chatting to him at Mallory he was trying the find a way past the cars we had come up behind. Although he was faster than them on overall lap time his NA 300ZX would not be able the out drag them so he needed to find another way past. Unfortunately for him I with my TT power was easily able to blast past blocking the rout he wanted to take. So sorry mate.

No problem! No need to apoligize, you were flying around the track and clearly quicker than me. After you went by I was able to get through.

It makes me jealous looking at all these pics. I got disqualified before I even left the pit lane for being a naughty boy and removing the bung from my exhaust (The bloody jobsworth marshall gave me a right bollocking!!!) I've removed the bung for the last 5 years with no issue! - Oh well.

So in the end it was a very expensive drive out . . . and a wasted track session!!! GUTTED!!!

Mike, sorry but I agree with the marshal - there have been a lot of noise issues at Castle Combe. My car gets under the limit easily so I'm sure your's will run ok with more silencing. Some tracks have 'drive-by' noise meters too because the static test is only a guide to how loud a car will be on track under load. I live a few miles from Mallory Park and quite close to M.I.R.A. too. I can hear action at both. It doesn't bother me but I bet it bothers quite a few non-motorsport lovers.

Heres another video of Rob doing a clear lap with a timer running.

Rob, 1.25 is a very good time .

Your car is so civilised and quiet (unlike the driver ;))!

Darrel, is there a way to get 2 videos to run alongside each other? When my lads and I record track laps it would be good to see where we differ time wise on various parts of the track.

Well maybe they shouldnt live near a track then Rob....The local councils give too much credance to Nimbys, most of the "locals" that got the Castle Coombe limit lowered have only lived in the area for a short while.....way way after the race track, what next, locals complaining that a school is too loud....ohh sorry we have already had that one.

I remember all that stuff kicking off with Combe over the noise. It was indeed the result of commuter types moving into the village (which bloody obviously was next to a race track) and then setting about trying to get the place closed or heavily noise restricted. Surely, you buy a house next to a track you reap what you sow and are in now position to complain about it.
