Excellent variety of pictures, very useful for those who didn't make it.

Thanks Martin

I'm assuming Datsun Dave was not quite ready to attend.

On the early shots there is a Black 370 with a girl on the bonnet - love those Black 370s but I sure wouldn't let a girl sit on the bonnet - showing my agee I suppose.

Did I spot John Palmer on track? I thought he wasn't venturing out

Any video links guys?

Rob
I didn't think I'd be allowed out as my driving licence hasn't come back from DVLA. I'd already spoken to Japfest and Castle Combe and they said I would not be allowed on track without both parts of the original(also said this on their website). I thought I'd take a chance and take my photocopies and they accepted them.

It was good practise and nearly kept up with most. Even overtook a few cars so I wasn't the slowest. Brake held up and slowed me down a little(got my willwoods to go on before next week) but the suspension showed its age as the cars not very stable in high speed corners. I'll try and get my rear short strutt conversion done for Mallory too and maybe my camber pates.

I pilfered these from a Type R forum whilst browsing japfest pics from various sites.

Looks like a nice place to park, you'll get a good veiw of the raceing from there. As long as noone takes the same line as you, it will all be OK.

Some great pics early on, then I get "bandwidth exceeded" messages.

Love the late 80's toyota corollas, but curious as to why the Mini was there, Didn't get a pic of the full engine...Love to see it running an RB25

Very sorry I missed this, looked like a good turnout, hopefully I can get the 31 and 32 there next year

The track session was good fun apart from the Vileside 350z refusing to move at the start nearly causing a few accidents, also thanks to the Gold 350Z trying to overtake me on the starting grid bend and nearly taking me out! But apart from those it was good fun, i took it steady as i have to get to Nurburgring and back in it, in just under a months time!

The Mini has a Honda VTEC conversion. There were a couple there with such swaps I think. Normally they use the B16 or B18 engines from the Civic or Integra Type Rs, with a special front subframe and slightly extended nose. Nearly 200hp in a Mini can be a bit "interesting"...

Only arrived home today as we went to stay with our daughter after Japfest. Well the reported bad weather stayed away and what a great sunny day it was. I have a DVD taken from my car of our track time but have no way to import it onto my PC and post it. I passed a few cars chasing down Madmarco (which was his idea before we went out) so it may be of interest to those starting behind him and in front of me. I can take a copy to Mallory next week or post a copy to someone with an editing program that can import from home video DVD.

And apologies to the 350/70z driver we past a bit late going into the last bend. I had a rush of blood catching him up but that made me slow a little so as to not get a black flag for tailgating. I resigned myself to follow him home but he went off line behind another car and that gave me a chance to pass. It’s a good DVD.

Excellent Rob, cant wait to see the video. I tried my best to drop you but you were definitly a man on a mission! I will be at Mallory this weekend, if you could bring me a copy that would be great.
