I need about 5k, soul for sale

Lmao, so what do guys do with these cars then? or is it just accepted that they break a lot?

Unlike a Z which is Jap engineered and thus designed to work, the yank tanks were built in Detroit by Americans in the 60's. What do you reckon? You can buy them (albeit for a pretty penny) with not too many miles on them at all because they were forever breaking down. I remember when I was watching the wrestling one night and Goldberg turned up in his fully pimped Barracuda. When he went to chase the Rock later on, it wouldn't start! Priceless. Like an Alfa, when they work, they are special. Most of the time, bits are falling off them and they are in the garage being fixed...

When it comes to American muscle cars, it has always been the '68 Chevy Camaro that does it for me

My TA22's big brother :)

because they were forever breaking down

Back in the '60s and '70s the GM philosophy was to build a car on the basis that the owner wouldn't even open the hood for the first three years - reliability of mechanical components (and the engines in particular) was NOT an issue.

Always liked the big block TA.

A mate of Mr F, Cliff Pett, used to have a Black shaker hood TA a 71 (iirc?) which he ran at a Z club North Weald Drag racing meet.

Sold it to another Z club member whose name escapes me and bought The Mike F 300ZX

It did use to make a nice noise :)

Ok two things

One, what is a GS30S Nissan Fairlady Z 2/2? What does the G and the last S signify, was it JDM only?

Second, yes to the Camaro! :) I really don't want to like them (for me the Charger is the daddy of muscle, but I don't ACTUALLY know, just watched Bullet too much), but the rear 'hips' on that car just look awesome.

Funny how in the trans am video it was right hand drive in some shots hehe :)

The video was representing the car and not the "cock" as you so bluntly put it.

To be honest as far as classic yank muscle goes that car wasn't up to much either, Not saying that model couldn't be nice just that. That particular example was a bit of a mess.

The trans-am was never my favorite muscle car though I nearly bought a 6.6L once in a moment of weakness.

As for the video I was only meanig it reminded me of all the ned video's you get on youtube these days not a dig at you.

Russ.

You need to get your 240Z out on the road and track which would stop all this silly day-dreaming.

Drifting and tyres screaming, hanging out sideways outa a corner looks great but efficient performance looks boring and easy. Compare it to sex - you've wined, dined, driven the lady home in yer Z32 all power and comfort, creep up to your rome and whilst she's stripping dowxn to her black shorties you accidently 'pop off' and spend the rest of the night caressing her back and yourself trying to get back into the action. Or comapre it to having your clutch go just when you enter the gates of Castle Coombe having spent all winter preparig your Z and bragging about it !

'G' surely stands for 2+2
'S' = 4 speed ?

mmmm, sounds like you speak from experience Sean......:lol:

A link to how the 'Bullitt' cars were modified for the 'chase'.

Bullitt - The Greatest Chase of All

Always worth a watch

Even though it was 60's & 70's American muscle which first hooked me into old cars, I'm not so much of a fan of them as I used to be.

When I was in the Sates last year, it was great to see them and they looked very cool and proportionately small compared to everything else around them.

But a muscle car in the UK ? Sorry, but I think they look out of place and a bit cliched.

...all but the Z32 but I did last a few minutes longer

Point is that looks and 'flash' impress children (of all ages) and maybe young girls......or do it well in yer Z !

Good pint Rob - over here, they all dress up in brown leather trousers and wear big silly hats to drive around in thier yankee wagons - not one in a too-short cream rain-coat and a fold-down sawn-off shotgun down his jockeys !

Half the point is to look out of place. I could go buy a modern saloon for the same money if I wanted to blend in.

Most people seem to be missing the point, the car will probably never go about 70mph and will just cruise around. It's not the 60s and it's not America, it's all about the sound, the infinite torque available, the cars bloody 50 years old :) It's for burning up a little bit from the lights, stop comparing it to Zs! That's why I like them as well, different cars, different moods, different days.

All this silly day dreaming doesn't cost me anything Sean, it's nice to have a dream no? It all fits into the "I hope I achieve this before I die" plan. I've got motorbikes for clearing my head and fun (and economy it turns out, and still trying to get every corner right), a 300zx for when I just want it to work, I'd love a van/pickup/truck of some sort so I could load crap in it (including the bikes), a 240 for road pose and track, and a big yank for just listening to the engine tunes and looking cool. I don't have a big v8 to play with, I can't think of anything I'd sooner have one in. I only like twins when it comes to bikes really, I see the v8 as the car equivalent of that. Yeah I'd love a screaming straight 6, but I'd still be missing some low notes in my garage orchestra :)

Plus if I had a charger I'd never had afforded to take a girl out in the first place... and there's plenty of room in a charger, why be all boring and wait till you get home.

But thanks for the idea, will add faux shotgun, dodgy raincoat and thick rim glasses to list of driving apparel for when I'm out trying to be someone I'm not day to day (a software engineer sat in an office dreaming of this) ;)
