Fuel tank options?

Looks very well made that
Don't see no pumps, are they in the boot?

Is that a Subaru diff ?

Ian, I guess if you contact them they will have the detail and dimensions etc
Yeah, I'll definitly get in contact to check it out.

Sorry I have no other shots of the fitted tank yet. That tank has its own "built in" swirl pot so no need for an external one anymore
I am not sure whether to go for an in tank pump setup or an external pump setup? I like the idea of an in tank pump as it would look neater and would probably be quiter but I'm not sure what the benifits of either are. Which do you think is better?

Also do you have any idea how much fuel it holds? I'm guessing its got to be pretty close to the amount the stock tank holds.

Thanks

I need to fit the pumps yet ,there is a pick-up in front of the tank , just like the works rally fueltank and i took the sparewheelwell out .

Yes its a Subaru diff 4.40 with plate type LSD ( WRX Gr N rally ) , we made modified the input flange to fit the propshaft and we made new output flanges to suit the Datsun drive shafts

Pump type could be either dep what plans you have for your car and what budget you have.
Think internal would deffo cost more and require more thought/time to make.
If you are going to mod the car it might be wiser imo to have it externally mounted
If you are going to leave it stock or there abouts then an internal might be better?
Capacity I don't know as I've not filled mine yet but I was told it wasn't far from stock

Thanks for the reply, The cars going to have a stockish L series for a year or two while I upgrade other parts but I was planning on fitting an RB26 at some point so idealy I'd like something that will be able to cope with that when the times comes.

Well you could build it internal with a pump speced for 500hp ;)
But in the mean time that's going to be of no use for an n/a carbed road engine
Sure you could change pump types or not even run one at first, so maybe just stick to one on the outside would be bestest ... imo :D

Very nice work Tel, that must have taken a ot of time to build.

Where did you get your ATL black box from, and did you go for the one with the Bosch pump?

I think I'll hold off on the custom tank for now, unless I have big problems finding a decent stock 260Z tank.

I really like the idea of an in tank pump, but certainly an external pump would give me great flexability and as long as the tank is well designed I shouldn't need an external swirl pot.

I like the look of the ATL black box, that would be pretty easy to build into a custom tank. If I took the design of your custom stock shaped tank so you couls still fill up from the original location but cut the spare wheel well out so you could make the tank bigger it would be easy to fit an in tank setup.

I'll be buying an ATL black box soon, has anyone got any good sources over here to buy one from?

Thanks Dave but they don't sell them. Demon Tweeks only stock what ATL UK stocks, which are more on the side of the bag type of fuel cells.

Your struggle to get one for a reasonable price in the UK without taking one up the....

I bought mine from a US seller on ebay in fact he has another one for sale for £170. If your lucky when it arrives you might not have to pay forced charity as well. Also make sure you get something like the ST528 they do a cheaper one but without trap doors which you need to avoid unless you want to make your own.

Thanks Darren, I seem to get shafted for every single parcel these days. I remember when it was a 50/50 call, doesn't seem to be the case any longer now that I've moved out of London - maybe they've got more time on their hands??
