Electrical glitches

I've recently had some bodywork done and yesterday whilst I was putting the interior panels back in the boot area I noticed that my indicators were not working. It seems that when I put my foot on the brake pedal the indicator lamps illuminate instead.
Have I knocked something or has the body shop put the wiring back incorrectly, any ideas, thanks.

There's an earth lead at the back. If it isn't screwed down to the body properly, all sorts of funny stuff happens with the lights (speaking from experience!)

yes, bad earth. there is an earth lead that goes to the rear light cluster bolt and one to the rear back panel on mine. remove, clean back to bare metal where the wire is bolted on, re-attach and if all working ok a smear of grease over the top stops corrosion for the future.

Rooting around in the boot just now, it does look like the earth has a connection that I might have seperated, what do you think?

OK stupid question, why is there a garden hose in the car?
That was state of the art in the eighties, so I'm leaving it as period. Apparently originality is everything these days ;)

That earth lead was the problem though guys, thanks indicators and lights back to normal

Just need to get my fuel gauge working again now.....

Mine stopped working last year, but it was nothing to do with the gauge, it was just corroded and filthy connections at the float level sensor, i believe there should be a rubber cover over the wiring but mine is long gone!

A quick rub with some fine sand paper and a clean with electrical contact spray and it works better than ever :)
