Do you know what this car is....

Thanks twoforty. Does not have rain channels as standard, as is in picture. I think the rear profile is not its best view, but I thought that, but seeing it in the flesh, it is better than I thought. Standard engine is 1.6L...R series engine.

Didn't said other owner is Spain put in an U20 engine ? Ex-fork-lift truck jobbie ?

The thing is - do you modify it (in which case why go halfway) or do you restore to something very close to standard ? I'm not sure that value comes into it (uk/euro market) unless you sell it back to Japan !

Its difficult...its mine, and if I so wanted I could cut the roof off and shove a v8 in! But for me, I want it keep pretty much how it was made, but add leather interior...keep the 1.6 engine...in keeping of the era the car was made. For me the car is too rare to modify. I have seen a picture of a Japanese Silvia with some 4 pot turbo engine in. Symon has not got his engine in yet...just start on that area, not too sure where he plans to go engine size.

Nice one Ian - it's in better shape than I thought!

I think you wanted a steering wheel. There's an original Silvia wheel on a Japanese auction site at the moment. It needs work and it's not cheap, but they're pretty rare. Let me know if you want the link. There's a nice front grille as well.

Cheers mate.

Fantastic Ian - great choice.

Good to see you choosing "against the grain" and going for individuality and exclusivity - it will be the envy of many (including me) when it is finished.

That's what I'd do but it's your car after all !

I'd still be tempted to update the brakes, suspension and maybe add a run-around modern injected engine......

Gorgeous. A google image find and the original sales brochure is out there. It's fab. Great call on keeping it spec but I'm with the monsieur above on the brakes issue. So, so cool. The fulvia had a thinner c-pillar which I'm not overly keen on which is what gave it away. It's got a mid seventies merc look to it too (and I mean no offence by that, that was just before they stopped making cool cars). Very, very much a head turner.

The car is a silvia (csp311) built between the ninth 64 and the third 65 also similar model 1.4 litre engine in it the sp311. I have the photograph of this car in my archives.

Ian - I've not linked these pics to the main www.nissansilvia.org website yet but check out some cool images of the Silvia from http://www.datsun.org/fairlady/japanesecalendars.htm.

If you're keeping it standard you've got a choice of two colours; Silvia Gold (looks green in some images) or a few were painted in Nissan white (code 655), though the car that went to the New York Auto Show was a one-off in metallic purple - how about it?

I've got loads of Silvia manuals, brochures etc and even a chassis plate, but you beat me to the actual car - four Datsun roadsters and a Skyline are my limit for now at least. I look forward to seeing it.

Best for now - Rob

Congrats Ian on your new arrival! I'm glad there's now a CSP311 in the UK.

??? :conf2: ???

That reminds me of an old post you made back in January 2007. It was post #15 on this thread: http://zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?p=76591#post76591

........... where you said you had bought a genuine factory-built Fairlady 240ZG, but that it was still in Japan.

I'm honestly wondering whether your post on that thread was just a throw-away one-liner, written for effect.........?

I'm all ears, though. :)

Blimey, thanks for the good lucks and general positiveness.

Rob, I have used said website and now got a centre console (though in Japan), and constantly looking to see what else is up, but skint financially at the moment. Colour choice, white at the moment....the gold (from the images I have seen) looks a bit "dull"...have to see the purple one though!! But I am sooooo far off painting, no firm decisions.... If you want, we can chat more via email....

Red Baron, as Albrecht says, all ears....as far as I am aware, all the CSP311 and the SP(L)311 roadsters around 1965 were all 1.6L, the SP(L)310 was a 1.5L..... any documented evidence on my car would be good..

It will be many years before the Silvia turns a wheel by itself, there is sooooo much work that needs done, every part I have needs work, a lot of parts are too far gone, parts of the interior trim are not from my car (all numbered to match individual car), so there is a chance they won't fit after making a templete from them, basically the car is a nut and bolt restoration. Every defect in the body will all have to be done by hand...no popping to the local Nissan dealer to ask for a new boot!! Even restoring the chassis (basically the same as a roadster) is straight forward, but parts are expensive. That's what you get for restoring a handmade car......

Sean, I will probably replace the bushes with urethane ones, the brakes I will leave standard. The front calipers are the same as on an E type Jag from what I gather....

First picture is the dash, second is the floor and thirdly is the petrol tank and front bumper.

Cheers
Ian

Very, very cool choice! Hope you have most of the bits, it does not look very complete. Look forward to seeing more pics in future. Good Luck!

Rob
would be great if you could bring one of those Roadsters to ZedFest in September
I know a hell of a lot of club members have never seen one in the flesh

I'd love to but it looks like next year Steve - I'm away all of September but I'll definitely do something in 09. Should have the road-legal replica racing roadster sorted by then.

In the meantime, here's the Skyline - (with apologies for taking over your thread Ian ...)

Rob

The C10 is awesome :bow::bow::bow:

Is it in the UK yet? I would love to hear more about this beauty, how do I get in touch?:conf2:

Ian

Apologies for the thread hijack;)

No probs Rob and datsfun. Nice looking Skyline....from the looks of the countryside, I would say that it is in the UK....can't be many of those here neither...

Ped,
Thanks....it does not look complete as the car is stripped....I have most things Silvia specfic, and if I have it needs work. The big thing missing are seats, but they are the same as a year specific roadster, so not difficult to get hold of (in the US)....
