That right there!!!! Lost youth at work.

Sean, I'm guessing you never drove a 206gti or Saxo VTS then? The latter was one of the MOST grin inducing cars I've owned (but it also induced grimaces regularly given the French build quality and bits falling off it all the time).

The chop top Z is not for me. Having said that, you have to admire the effort gone in and the finish. It defo isn't DIY enthusiast level work.

I did post this up as a bit of fun...anyway I have Peugeot 306 GTI 6 as a company car, its the only French car I have ever owned and was lots of fun. that said the odd bit did fall off it but hey the company paid for it

In the mid/late 80's I had a Renault 5GT Turbo and 1.6/1.9 Peugeot GTIs.
Loved them all, the 1.9 GTI was probably the best overall but the 5GT Turbo was most fun.

Loved the 1.9!!! My buddy had one and it was a total hoot!!!!

The Ren though - sacred the b'jesus out of me!!!! I don't think the brakes were matched to the power output. But such a great era for hot hatches! You had decent engines and suspensions (relatively speaking) but the driving feel was involving and analogue all the way!

Mr friend's fiesta RS turbo was another giggle inducing car - though we once came back from a blast, popped the bonnet and found the turbo was a hint of orange !! It needed some new seals (and other things) after that ;)

My lads have had 4 306s between them - all pretty good cars but just a few electrical problems. drove well.

About a year after i learnt to drive (1988) a friend bought a Lotus Sunbeam, and being used to thrashing about in a 1.3 Vauxhall Chevette, it scared the crap out of me, every time i was in it! It was a real sleeper car, just about everyone on the road had no idea what it was, until it went past them with inches to spare at full chat!! o_O

Not too few years ago I always said one of those cars is worth buying now if you want to see it go up in value, how I wish I had the room in my garage to get one at the time, and it wasn’t that long ago as everyone was into their fords and dismissing things like the lotus sunbeam
