Car Tax online

My 240Z is currently SORN'd.

I want to tax it for the 1st May but the online system is still wanting my tax disc to run from 1 April.

So now there is no way I can get a tax disc before 1st May to be able to display it.

I'm assuming that with online checking I will be ok as far as the law is concerned (and I should get a confirmation email) but it's so annoying.

They won't send a tax disc early but my car will spend most 'taxed' days in the garage and I'll be paying for it!

Roll-on next year when it's free.

I think "failure to display" is still an offence to a picky officer of the law...

I always just print off the email conrimation and stick it in the glovebox.

Take a trip to the post office Rob. Then you can get it straight away.

Agree with Racer, go to your post office, they will tax your car from 2 days before the end of the month for the month ahead so as not to lose a months RFL

Good to hear from you Ben! I think the problem is the fact that the car is not taxed now so they don't want me to drive it before May.

Post Office, ok but that isn't the point - the system is flawed.

My insurance runs out the same time as the tax disc is due for renewal, but the DVLA's online system wont allow me to process it with less than month left on the insurance.

So by the time I have the had the renewal, rang around for prices and sorted the insurance, then applied for the tax disc, my current tax has ran out before the new one has arrived. I think it's flawed too.
