Brake upgrades, inc handbrake concerns

The difference is in the front strut design, the lugs that hold the caliper are further towards the centre line on the 300zx because they are designed for the smaller disc's, The R32 mounts are effectively longer for the bigger diameter disc but also the disc is thicker to make the gap bigger between the disc to let more air in for cooling,

I designed my brackets specially for the R32 disc in keeping with the calipers , So my brackets must be different to Turn&burns , I will have to have a look at his thread again,

The disc's are around £150 for the R32 GTR so not much more than decent standard disc's but you do have to machine them out and redrill them or pay some one to do it , so this will add to the cost also .

I did look at the s14 disc's to but i didn't think there was that much room to get the caliper in that far without fooling the datsun hub
Thanks Gary. Is the machining required for the centre bore? I reckon I know where I could get that and the holes drilled.

Yeah need to look into this next I think , using a off the shelf disc from AP or willwood like johny's and the T3 setup,

You would just need to buy a disc then and bolt it on to the carrier you already have then ,

Any idea how much the replacement discs are JohnyMD ?

Ap curved vane discs(outers) are about £400 a pair.

I thought they were around that price, make's the skyline ones look cheap !

yeah, centre bore and re-drill the mounting holes, but there are good ways and bad ways to drill them !

I think the better quality rotary vane disks were about £80z

This is how close it is. Disks are 300mm

Your right about it being the design of the wheels. The RKR’s fit fine. It’s not the face that touches, although it’s close, but the outer rim itself. My 16” rota grids were the same.

I was talking it through with a friend the other week as it would definately complete the setup imo.

I guess the limiting factor is the cost of it all, however if the disks are a reasonable price then changing disks and servicing would be much easier by just ordering an off the shelf solution rather than redrilling disks every time....

Thats good man maths woody :)

You'd need to go through about 7 sets of discs to cover the cost of a set of bells and discs.

 No one has confirmed how much it would cost as of yet.... They would look very cool and shiny regardless thought!

Also you're not factoring in the labour rates for swapping out the stock disks, my hourly rate isn't cheap you know :p

You can buy bells from demon tweeks for around £80 each to suit a generic disk from £30.

I’m pretty sure they don’t do anything that’s quite right. Even in pcd.

Attoman, I can give you a disc to copy that fits perfect, 295mm under a 14’’ wheel. So you can scale up and down

I just like the idea of a bell that you make or modify the once then just replace the disks. On my blue car I would get through a set of the wilwood 12" x 1.25" curved vane higher end disks every year. I expect to do the same with the wilwoods I put on the silver car. For a road car I'd use the UL32 ones and bells you linked to in as close as possible offset. PCD of the front hubs looks like 103mm
