Blue Fourways Racer wins at Brands Hatch

The Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch 26-27 May saw the infamous Fourways Modsport 240Z win in class and a superb second place overall. Qualified 2nd only 2 hundredths of a second off pole! Beat a gaggle of ex works TWR XJS's, ex works TWR Rover Vitesse's, two Porsche RSR's and a massively quick Zakspeed Escort RS1800 all of which are professionally prepared and raced on a regular basis. There were at least half a dozen professional drivers racing. 26 cars on the grid made a wonderful sight and wonderful noise and the "Beast" took the lead on the first lap diving down the inside along Copper Straight, never overtaken on track (it was the pit stop that beat us) and ran like a train. Geoff Jackson at Fourways has built a bloody fantastic race car. It is wonderful to see a full race spec 240Z upsetting all the marque manufacturers just as it did in the 70's. Pictures on their way soon.

We are chasing down video coverage, one of the RSR's had in car camera working so I will make contact as we had a major tussle half way through the race.

The cars have to be FIA/HTP'd or if that is not possible then they have to run as they would have in period, British Modsport Championship and British Touring Car Championship in the 70's for our "Beast". Strict scrutineering at all races.

Great to see a Z in action, I managed a 2nd in class at Silverstone the weekend before last in the HSCC 70`s Roadsports. Great fun!

That's great news, I hear that HSCC Road Racer series is competitive. How many Z's are regularly racing in that series?

Hi
Any plans to race your car in 2013?

Here is my old Zed (No27) at Donington just before the Motor seized.
That was my last ever race :(

HSCC Donington 70s Roadsports - YouTube

Just running through the 2013 schedule, these dates are confirmed with Masters 70's Celebration Series.

3,4,5 May = Donington - Combined grid with JD Classics Challenge (Big Sam?)
25,26,27 May = Brands
20,21,22 September = Spa

Possibly

23 March = Oulton Park
11,12,12 = Jerez

Toying with a few other dates but I am also racing an "Old Goodwood Banger" 1956 Ford Zephyr Zodiac Mk1 in the HRDC 50's Touring Series which runs with AMOC. So might be a tad difficult to squeeze any more dates in.
