STS maybe, or Kingsdown. Ron at STS I have used many times and he has a container that goes from the West Coast from memory (used to be Florida)

Jason get Mike to assemble the bike and then you can ride it over to the east coast. ;)
Mike do you know when it was registered in '52. It's the same age as me.

Is it possible to get a title in the US? I think that might be better than it getting it here and then trying to register it with no title.

US Customs will not allow export (as a complete bike) without a 'title' - it could only be shipped as parts/spares.

my 'ploy' would be to get the owners club to date it, provide a certificate of age then use that to register........

Sounds OK from a dating perspective for registration, but how would you get a NOVA import clearance document on parts? I must admit I have no experience with importing bikes but assume they are treated in similar way to cars?

Certain states do not have 'titles' on old cars/bikes and a notarised bill of sale is accepted in lieu, but California is not one of those states so US customs will want to see a title to ascertain the bike is not stolen prior to export.

I need to google what a notarised bill of sale is!

if you had a uk car/bike, of this age, you were missing the v5 and Reg number, how would you register it then? A dating certificate, then what? Thanks for the reply chris

'Notarised' just means the sales invoice is witnessed, stamped and signed by a lawyer.

A car/bike that has always been in the UK with missing paperwork is a much easier proposition for the DVLA to deal with as there is no import paperwork to check and the VIN will already be on their system.

With an import DVLA have to know the correct duties/VAT have been paid and they do this by cross-referencing that the vehicle has been entered on the HMRC NOVA system (Notification of Vehicle Arrival).

You (or Mike) need to speak to US export forwarders/agent to see if 'notarised' bill of sale can be accepted in lieu of title for export or Mike will have to 'title' the bike at his local DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) which is probably in Sacramento. Think he can possibly do it but it takes quite a long time, 10/12 weeks last time I had a vehicle 'titled' in California.

All tucked in waiting for the trans-Atlantic voyage. Smiths gauge boxed as well.

I would love to have that. Pity my car is taking all my money at the moment. My K100 will do until such times I can find and afford something like that to restore.
