Subaru R180 plated LSD.
Ah I remember now you mentioned that before. Didn't think that was a Nissan R200 ratio!
Subaru R180 plated LSD.
ok this is my take on it, 10 inch wheels look cool great for track work but hard work on the road with or without PS, watch out for the lorry tracks and don't do more than 40mph in the pouring rain as you will skate from lane to lane, this is all from experience
I would have thought wet weather handling is heavily dependant on tyre compound?
I have driven cars with 10" + wheels in pouring rain and didn't suffer what you describe above ( albeit these are moderns compare to s30 chassis) and they were equipped with high performance ALL weather tyres.
Mine is savage, depends on the tyre and the geometry. The car wasn't designed for them
Your probably running 888's or 048's track days tyres
These will tramline like hell
I keep looking at wheels and the decision to buy has come up again. These a for a factory arched car that I will be lowering. I could go the popular 8x15 et0 but really would like to run 9's, also in zero. I'm happy to run 205 tyres and I'm wondering if I roll the top lip a little, could I get away with the extra 12mm. Working on the principle that a 225 will fit then in theory I'll only be 2mm wider at the tread area. I may have to try a zero offset 8" with 225 tyre and see how much room I have.
Are you running stock arches Rich? Tyre size?
I will be using wider arch's once I find some plastic ones(looking at ones from OZ) but not at tyres yet as will wait till I get the alloys..
Im waiting till my wheels arrive so I can see what size I want but thanks.I have a set of the "wider" than normal and staggered ZG bolt on flares. PM if interested.
You need to watch the back space as you might find it fouling on the suspension .when I had 225,50,16 on my 16x8 rota +10 they was just catching on my wheel arch when going down bumpy roads ,so I used 205,55,16 no problem.
Tyre choice will make a difference as side wall profile varies between manufacturers.
My car was a USA spec 240Z which are quite low compared to the UK version.
After much searching and head scratching/umming and aarring, Im thinking of buying some 16x8 alloys, but the ones i fancy arent available with 0et, so i would have to go with +10et
I would be happy to have 15" wheels but tyre choice is pants and will only get worse so 16" it is
I see you have the same spec of wheel Im considering, what suspension set up are you running?
Mine is standard struts but lowered by approx 1.5 inches, and uprated shocks, i have 225 60/14 tyres on 7j wheels and they just miss the rear arch, but only just!
The main thing Im concerned about tho is the wheel/tyre rubbing the suspension with the + offset moving it that bit nearer
I will prob go with 225 50/16 tyres or maybe with a 45 profile, I really like the look of a 225 wide tyre and would rather not drop to 205, not on the rear anyway
....because the soft springs have sagged.
