240Z on car & classic

Yes sean you are quite correct but at the end of the day the car is not as advertised, and clearly not a 1969-70 model,

Maybe the chassis is..................;) how many 1970 modeles reached Ireland in..........1970 ?

Only two in the British Isles and both are accounted for !

Doesn't that depend upon it being registered as an 'HS30' or 'HLS30' ?

But I still think it strange to have an 'HLS' prefix with a RHD car and they DO exist don't they ?

2) what value does the clubs' insurance expert place on it ?

its bit hard to put a valuation on some photos when i know nothing about the car and it has not much info in the advert.as i would always say # you need to see it in the flesh to make a proper evaluation of it #

c'mon Mike - take a stab - you value cars from photographs and an owners' description - class this one please from the information given in the ad. and not our interpretations.

you value cars from photographs and an owners' description.

It's a bit more details than some internet car advert -

You'll need six photos (front,rear,left side,right side, interior , engine bay )

PHOTOCOPY REG DOCUMENT

DESCRIPTION OF CAR ie. MONEY SPENT,RECEIPTS, MODIFICATIONS ETC
more info the better !!!!!!!

Considering the year, I wouldn't be surprised if this car could get that sort of money, as long as she were solid and still had the original engine and was tidied up a bit.

Needs to look more OEM - looks like the door plates have been painted black and not just the bumpers.

A few OEM NOS parts would do this car a lot of justice. If I were selling I'd even put the original steel wheels and hubcaps on, fit new bumpers or very good conditioned ones, replace the seats and tidied anything else up, and if the original engine was still available put it back with twin SUs.

Ahh and why not fit new wings and remove those mirrors!

If you want a car to achieve good money I don't think you should even consider modifying it from the original manufacturers spec, unless of course you've done something very special.

Sounds like one of those "do up your house to sell TV programmes" but you're right - not a lot of effort made to 'selle it !

A quick one for sean you say only 2 in the british isles and both are accounted for, does that include mine which is an august 1970 series 1, i ask because im either mistaking what your saying, because i thought there was more than 2 series 1 240z in the country. please correct me

What Sean is trying to say is there were only 2 cars officially registered over here in 1970 & the rest are LHDs that have been converted or they are ringers.

AH, thought that is what he was saying just needed comfirmation, it would appear that the 240z was not as popular over hear than in the states, a shame really when you say ringers do you mean lhd converted to rhd or a 1972-3 converted to look like a 1970 with the date correct parts.

No-one converts a later car to look like an earlier car but some have been converted to RHD and others inmpotred and kept as LHD.

Who says that they weren't as popular ? If they'd been offered at a similar price comparitif to MGs and not E-Types and THIS market had exploded and not the US then production would have been aimed at us and not 'them' !

Price was the factor - not preference !

So what's your Zs' history then ? Care to share the chassis number with us ?

I imported the car from florida last year chassis no is HLS30- 08058 a august 1970 240z, the main reason i bought it is because i always wanted a 240z with a v8 in it and this one came with a 327ci 5.4litre chevy v8 and 5 speed gearbox, its condition was nice but not concourse by any standards, ive alterred a lot on the car moved the engine back to the JTR position for better balance, fitted twin electric fans to keep it cool, fitted supperflex bushes throughout, coil over suspension, r200 differential, toyota front calipers, and have the rear disc brake conversion but not yet fitted it, also stainless brake hoses throughout, car came blue but while i was shotblasting underneath and up the side 6 inches of the car to remove some surface rust,i couldnt get a match on the paint when touching up, so thought sod it, took out the engine stripped the car down and resprayed it 110 red, i gave myself 7 out of 10 for the spray job my first attempt, i know its not everyones colour choice but its my favourite colour, i did my last z the same colour, only down side to the car is the interrior is ok but could be better, maybe in the future ill treat myself to a revamp monies allowing,

Nope, it aint my favourite coulour but I'd live a dirve in it 'cos I've always fancied a V8 with 'loadsofukkintalk' !

Is it still LHD then - I guess so !

Yes its still left hand drive, im slightly tempted to convert it to right hand drive but dont know exactly what parts are needed, or even if i can be bothered to do it, as i only drive it occasionaly, also it makes one hell of a noise, one thing the yanks got right is how a v8 sounds cannot rev it in the garage without earplugs in fuking awsome.
