slowly getting there.. bought a sunbleached California car from a guy here in Denmark. He had abandoned the project, so obviously I had to rebuild it into a hotrod. :D

grp hood and hatch
432r grill
Plexi windows
4 point SD cage
wide flares
L28 on webers

pic as of yesterday out of paint and i refitted the nose:

it was that horrible metallic blue, so it went blue again, except its a solid RAL chart blue for that retro vibe.

next job is to drop front/rear subframes and blast, paint and poly rebush along with coilovers from Gaz and brake upgrade.

its RAL 5007. I had a local shop sort some rusty patches and do the exterior paint.

With a solid colour from the RAL chart, you can simply get cans or touchup paints blended off easily. besides, I wanted something retro also and the RAL charts give you that choice. Engine bay I painted myself with Satin black.

whats pretty cool is that I have one of Denmarks top historic race drivers who drives the 240z literally 30km down the road. So a few choice mods are in the pipeline too ;)

just back from the shed:)

pulled both front and rear subframes, and tore them down... bloody heavy stuff when you hustle them around single handedly.
Dropped rear subrame with Diff andeverythng, only to realize I forgot to unclip the handbrake cables..oops..
Front went fine also and now getting a batch of stuff to get blasted and ready for paint.

I love the part number stenciled on the moustache bar.. damn shame its going disappear when cleaned up :(

some pics of rusty bits if anybody is interested:)

Anybody need a set of front calipers?
I am upgrading brakes, so these calipers are surplus now

All them parts will clean up nicely and should look like new when painted.

yehaa!

Spent 9 hours sandblasting suspension bits the last couple of days. The very thing i have been swearing at has been the key to the great state this car was in, namely the smattering of tar/primitive rustproofing on most of the bits.. sandblasting with a small cabinet means it was tedious to clean off.. but man, freshly blasted bits are so motivating in a perverse way

Parts have started arriving!
First the BC coilover and camber plate setup arrived:

mmmm gold and black bling, very nice stuff!!

Then my new saladbowl collection showed up  from Atara Racing

deeep dish phatness in its bronze flavour.. barely made it off the boat in the UK before being shipped over to Denmark:

hmm tire choices..

Then my buddy and I got stuck into the teardown and prep for the coilover install.. He will be welding them for me as I have NO experience with a welder. Anyway, quite simple
1. tear down suspension struts and pull inserts:

2. chop off leaving only 45mm stubby and sandblast welding area for clean weld penetration:

3. slide BC coilover strut mount over stub, and notch out as required on front struts to clear bump on strut so it all lines up snugly. This way, you also keep factory strut angles as the fitting tolerances are spot on.. so you cant screw it up!!

4. weld it! ( no pics as we havent done that yet as our playtime got curtailed by pesky wives and family commitments:( )

now the genius with this is, you dont have to pull Rear spindles!! and avoid shipping stuff to Gaz with their wonky angles etc..
Rears will be cut and installed with lower arms still fitted.. then wirebrush and paint to spiff the rear suspension gubbins up:lol:

Those wheels are super cool. Mini lite style wheels always have something I don't quite like but those are perfect. Smaller sizes available?
