I had been leaving the rusty fuel tank, that was like a half empty packet of crisps.
Once I double checked the cost of a second hand one for the 2nd time..
Let's do this..
Ingredients:
Hydrochloric acid 36% £39
Por15 metal prep £25
Por15 degreaser £25
Por15 fuel tank repair £52
After pouring 20l of full strength Hydrocloric acid into the tank we sealed all holes (one with a cloth so it could breath)
Then some various shaking and turning for 6 hours.
This was to get through the really thick rusting all over the tank.
Then filled the tank to reduce the effect of the acid and left it full for 20 hours.
Before rinsing twice
Then after that used the por15 metal prep. If I'm honest I am unsure if this step was really required.
After that I rinsed thoroughly with water.
Many hours drying the inside of the tank to ensure there was no remaining water inside..
Final step to pour the por15 tank seal, I was sceptical of the 1l tin and its or my ability to ensure full coverage.
I was really impressed by the coverage.. lots of shaking and jiggering... I felt like I needed a trampoline..
Got to say I am initially impressed.
I have also blowm through all the pipes to ensure they are free and replaced the drained with some oil on it to prevent it sticking whilst keeping the thread clear.
