Glyn Jones used to own that car (some of you who’ve been around the club for a long time will know that name). It’s on the Sam register - #41. I think Glyn sold it to knock some other cars off his bucket list (I remember he came to the Samuri Gathering one year with an Ascari, another with a De Tomaso Pantera).
The ad is cringe. All that cut and paste shite about Goertz etc. It’s almost embarrassing to read.
Don’t see anything worth slagging off about the car itself though, given to some degree it is a known quantity and a number of us will have seen it in the metal. Historically, the paint job was distinctive from the usual Sam fare; still the pin-stripping, but the dark red.
So, despite being on the Register, we are looking at another so-called “Samuri”?...
But I think they are beginning to look dated.
It is an interesting one, I wonder how many young people would actually want a Samuri over a standard model (excluding Christian obviously)
Having been reacquainted with certain details of the story, yes, it’s a tribute essentially. Glyn formerly owned CAB139N (subsequently owned by JK and now Rob), and missed it, so decided to build one in a Sam style, with variations like the colour. He never presented it as anything other than a car “in the style of”. However, the current dealers are misrepresenting the car totally. As for the register, well chalk up another example of its dubious value...So, is this car a tribute but still made it onto the register as SS00041?
