Dans 240Z

Well I think in going to sack these off. I don't actually have a good word to say about Dave Mac and his gang. Drove all the way over here to go through with him and discuss alternatives and took two steel parts I could use instead of an alloy one. Spoke to them on the phone first and they told me to come down and speak with Jon, who when I got there didn't give me the time if day.

I've left my bits their but think I'm just going to pick them back up.

Who are you 'sacking' off?

Sorry for my poor spelling earlier - iphones...

We have had no problems using them in the past. Just annoyed me telling me to go over and speak to someone to only get there and them be so ignorant.

I have sacked off using Dave Mac - they should really have advised me the first time what would be suitable for the application.

I went earlier to somewhere more local - Premier Propshafts in Atherstone. Two guys looked at my old prop and the wall thickness, commented on the poor welding etc...

I took down two other steel prop shaft ends that I was going to use, told them I wanted a much beefier prop that can eventually handle 400-500ftlbs of torque on a sticky drag radial...

They looked at the prop ends I took down and measured up showing that the wall thickness although steel would still not be very thick. They had some other ends in that would fit my UJ's and could be used with some much better material so I have gone with the option shown too me. (Also cheaper than Mac...)

If I manage to bend the next prop I have some serious issues - this thing should take a ridiculous amount of abuse...

Hi Dan, I tried Premier and they wouldn't deal with me as they said they were more commercial vehicle than car so directed me to Mac's in Cov.

So they see your motor as a commercial then? I suppose Yank V8s are bit like that. ;)

I walked in with the part from Mac's and told them that's who made it - perhaps that's why they didn't redirect me there...

Not particularly local to you, but another option should you need it:

http://www.firowpropshafts.co.uk

Just been in contact with them about shortening a propshaft for an S14 swap. Very helpful and can-do and expressly deal with one-off enthusiast needs as well as commercial and more industrial level work.

Been using the car for the past few days. Had an issue with transmission fluid leaking from the ****** speedo seal, fixed that. Still got a slight blow on one of the exhaust flanges but the cars been spot on.

Went to the dyno and was surprised by the stock engine numbers :)

Cam and get my intake on next. Be nice to break the 400 hp mark this summer. Also desperately need another r200 now to fit an LSD too

Some health figures there. Nice straight hp curve too.

With that sort of torque I'd get an LSD pretty quick.

Not sure if Dans mentioned it here but I think he may have had a slight mishap in the Z. Hope you are ok mate and nothing too serious.

Oh no. I'm away this week but will catch up with him when I get back at the weekend.

Just out of theatre. Thanks for the concerns.
The Z is definitely no more.
People following me couldn't understand what went wrong. The rear diff locked up and set my drivers side door perfectly in to a lamppost.
I am lucky to be alive, with the cage and bucket seat I wouldn't be here today. My legs were trapped between the cage and trans tunnel...
Got a ride in a helicopter too... Not that I can remember too much.
Thanks,
Dan

Oh no Dan!

So glad you got out of it reasonably well though.

When you say theatre which type do you mean?

I'm gutted for you, genuinely shocked too,

I hope you have a full recovery, and it is good to hear that all the good safety gear did what it was intended to do.

Get well soon

Blimey Dan, so sorry to hear that. But, although the Zed's not, you are alive, and that's the only thing that's important. I hope you're fit and firing on all cylinders yourself soon.
