pull your neck in Sean

This club only has this forum, I'm on it, I discuss, participate....if there was another quiz night (that was a one-shot wonder), I'd pay to be in on it for a laugh despite Russ having the fastest connection and therefore quickest response time. I started the F1 competition, I've put up prizes, I gave Suzy loads last time she was here for the clubs' raffle....I think I organised Le Mans Classic and I offer every year to do the same for the 24 Hrs, I've been the one pushing for the Dutch Clubs' do next year, I'm always offering to do another French weekend event, I've written several articles for the clubs' mag and the online mag and if asked, I'll continue (not as some have done for the personal glory (bollocks to that) but because I want to support 'my' club.

If I've calmed down it's because I feel that the club didn't support me on (for me) an important issue.

Don't preach to me my friend.

The Club needs more active local groups - more local outings that build into a fan base to come to national events and financially support what is now a firm internet based club.

What does it take (£s) to run this club every year now ?

You need to take a step back, a disorganised club with no monies will fail. Those that do their best will do so, time is the killer for all of us. If you want an active input then join and be proactive, but to sit on the side lines and moan achieves nothing. You want the club to move forward then great, join and get active within the committee.....its called put ya money where ya mouth is!!!!

I quite agree there are some vacant people on the committee, but we have no one to replace them with so if they did one hours work a year that's more than none. As always people start with the best intentions and for whatever reason the task overwhelms them or it was much easier/more fun talking about the task than doing it.

If you've an answer to that problem I'm all ears.

ONE OF THE GOOD THINGS TO COME OUT OF THIS IS THAT THE REASON THAT THE PHOTOS HAD TO BE APPROVED WAS effin caps that a while ago some one posted up some porn in the gallery and it has highlighted that the unapproved photos could be viewed by all on the front page as a thumbnail and we thought it was only admins that could see the unapproved photos first

This has now been fixed by Russ so only admins can see any new subited photos prior to releasing them for general view

Run me a list of the committee and if you don't want to make it personal - just list the tiles with no names.......I'll bet half of them don't even participate on this forum.

You know what ? I don't think most of you are doing everything they can for the club. I think SOME of you are doing a lot and that is why a photo might be taking time to be approved.

Now chill out - you don't love this club more than I.

last post from me on this issue coz I can't be arsed!

Get involved or don't moan, "love the cub" fine then support it and get on the committee and make those changes for the better or sit back n whine from the sidelines where NO ONE WILL LISTEN!

Who and where is the chairman ? Why isn't that role cutting away the dead wood and replacing with fresh blood that DOES want to get involved ?

The club lacks management and THAT'S why it might fail - it doesn't take an awful lot of money to run now the mag has been ditched and I was for that two years before the club had no choice.

I've offered to be on the committee, before Suzy was chairman (just to give you a date) and asked what I could do in another country. Since then, I've participated in the forum etc,etc (see above) as things I know I can do and don't need to be 'whipped' to do so.

Think yourselves lucky that I left the country or I'd still be chairman, your boss and things wouldn't drift along !

What are the clubs' aims now, at this moment ? What is it's purpose ? There's all this energy and ideas and people skilled and it seems aimless......a ship floating without a rudder.

Have a nice day now.

At least four people listened though........:p and another good thing to come out of this is that Rahail sent me some nice photos AND Grolls has got his memdership sorted out.

The chairman (I believe) is flat out doing the role of membership secretary (a crap task that is very time consuming, hence why I'm trying to alleviate some of his work load with computer programs).

fresh blood that DOES want to get involved

WHO??? WHERE??? You're not listening, there is none so the rest of us have to carry on hoping it turns up one year. I was really lucky Jakko turned up and breathed life into the website where I couldn't, and now Andy is on board doing a lot of the tasks I neglected and helping me look forward (allowing me time to develop things). The rest of the committee don't have any hands helping them.

A great thing you could do for the club you love so much is become a recruitment officer, finding all this fresh blood, because we can't find it.

Grolls you were sent a reminder last Friday so you may get it Tuesday. Sorry mate but I have lots of other things just lately that are taking my time (most serious being my Mum who is in hospital 50 mls from me).

People should appreciate how much work 'officials' do for the club. I spend about 2 working days a month on Z Club tasks. Many others a LOT more and I pay £15 to do it!

I pay £15 a year (which really is f*ck-all) and I enjoy helping out where I can. I'm desperately trying to get the next magazine together in time for next weekend. It's a bit of a thankless task, being a committee member on here but, like Rob, Russ and all the rest, we still pay to do it, every year, and probably will 'til we expire. Keep an eye out for any prospective 'rudders' mon ami...

Q.E.D

Plenty of people listening now. Seems that I've touched the tip of the ice-berg, sorry that I've tread on toes- I do seem to have highlighted some serious problems in the club (which you were all aware of but) which now are more public knowledge. It appears that more people with time to spare are more important than £15 a year ?

Two important club roles (that regularly take up time every week/month) should never be undertaken by the same person - at least one of those roles suffers.

Where do epople come from ? Local meets - put some energy into local groups 'cos people want outings in their cars - that's where you get volunteers from. The forum is a fine thing, the virtual mag too but a club has to have substance behind the screen and members meeting up regularly is that.

For info over here I'm Chairman, press officer and Nat./Int. events organiser - you think all that you tell me is new ?

Sorry to have upset - not my intention - carry on the good work.

Thanks mate I got 'em - why DID you go for white.......?

Grolls - I notice that you're not a paid up member either........

I have tons of productive and constructive input but I don't think that The Z Club wants it. Forum over-regulated, committee members under-worked and several over-praised (awards and trinkets every year - we never got any of that). Time to go back to grass roots and plug the regional groups !

I am sorry but I take great exeption to your comments. Committee members are not underworked, they just do not shout from the rooftops what they do, to pacify people that like to whinge. I do not post too much on here ( which should not matter because as you say it is a club not an internet based forum, so post count is irrelevant in this argument) however, I assure you that just the arranging of Z009-10 ( a meet for people to have a trip out in their cars) alone takes a good 6 months of my time and half of my holiday entitlement at work.

If you know they are underworked, then you must know who they are and what they do, please enlighten us! The fact you had to ask to provided with a list of committee roles, would suggest you do not exactly know.

Regional groups I am the REO for Yorkshire and by my own admission I have not arranged a meet for a while due to work commitments but guess when I did how many replies I got!!?? Go on have a guess.

There are positions vacant within the committee, if we are all so underworked and do so little for such great praise then why are people not jumping on the wagon? Committee members do what they do because they enjoy doing it, not because they are employed. Russ and Jak do an immense amount of work on the technical side of things, if what they did were paid employment they would be quite a bit better off for it aswell.

and in all fairness if you were chairman Sean, you would not be my boss, my boss is called Jane and works for a wage for the same employer as me. As an adult I would not be bossed around and you would probably find just yourself drifting along, as from what I have just read you would be on your own as every fucker else would have jumped ship. I know you are quite entitled to your opinion but you seem to be putting people down you do not even know just to make a point.

You are saying on one hand that some of the committee members do jack shit, even though you have had to ask for a list of who they are and what the positions are. You then complain that some are never on the forum posting but in the next sentence complain the club is just internet based now and not a true club and no one gets trips in their cars etc. You are just contradicting yourself.

In fact why am I even trying to justify myself, to someone who has never met me, Ill carry on doing as I do, in the background because what I do makes a few folk happy and that is enough for me!

Some people love to fill the apple cart just to upset the bloody thing!!

There is an AGM this weekend, I expect to see enthusiasm from members to fill the vacant positions?

Thanks Rob (I know it's there, I've copied it down to reply later but I don't know how up to date it is either).

The history here is that I put up a lighthearted comment re a photo (that I wanted to look at closer) posted on a weekend when some might have have a moment to approve. It was not an official complaint and I don't (didn't) know who does approve them so didn't do a mail-list to every committee member requesting politely that it be approved hastily. Not at all my intention to incur Blobbys' wrath or cause offence BUT don't you think Mr Burns replied in public for a reason ? He could have PM'd me and slagged me off privately but chose to wash the linen in public - I duly reacted.

Sarah, don't take offence - those with clear conciences don't need to justify and the remark about being your boss was tongue in cheek (humour) but did imply that if I hadn't left the country, I'd still want to be Chairman, giving up an immense amount of time gladly for the club.

If I didn't give an ar*e, I wouldn't have replied, wouldn't be replying and would just smugly pay my £15 a year and say that I'm supporting The Club. In my book, £15 a year buys you the right to participate further.

Looking down the committe and regional group list - there are many that do not have forum addresses, groups without reps. some strange positions and several vacant committee posts and others that are doubling up.

Do you need all those posts and how many are still active ?

ps please can someone update the list so club and forum members know who can be contacted and who is responsable for what ?

Yours,

snidny

Have already gotten onto updating the list, but with the agm Friday where things will no doubt change then there's little point doing an interim version. Who is active on the committee changes a lot and it's a forgotten part of the site, along with who gets committee forum access etc, so is usually behind the times :(

Fair point - so the list should be up to date within a week (at least names and appointments if not tel and email details/committee access to forum). We can resume then.

In the meantime, if you can suggest a role for me,I'll 'be on-board (I have a good idea what I CAN do) and I can always give my committee meetings' vote by proxy.......but don't expect a appointment to shut me up, au contraire !

May I respectfully request that you look closely at several committee appointments and perhaps reduce/eliminate them whilst trying to use those people who have the willing elsewhere more constructive for The Club ?

What this thread needs is some lighthearted fluffy kittens..... awwwwwww

Both mine brought home mice this morning.

I'd still like to hear of The Clubs' aims, ambitions and intentions for the next 12 months - anyone thought about publicising that (as a sort of AGM agenda) that might get some discussion, ideas and eventually better participation at the AGM and after ?

The minutes will be in the next magazine. For all to see, digest, and come up with stuff and such (like a club really...)

You mean the minutes of the last committee meeting before the AGM listing the agenda ? Is the agenda merely full of ......officers' reports or are there some juicy ideas forming ?

What about mere forum members without access to the on-line mag ? What incentive is there for them to participate more ? Maybe some would like to get onto the committee, volunteer their services etc but they'd need to know what posts were vacant etc.....

Consideration of at least the agenda freely on-line ? Bit like a club really......:)
