first 240z

Thanks for the update, the car looks very sound and a good starting point. You have great facilities too, so much better than my single garage.

It's always good to see 240s with panels and interior removed - it's the only way to do a decent job.

Keep the updates coming please.
 
Out of interest mate, what did you use to strip the paint back on your rear quarter panels? Looks like a good job!

as its been stored in a damp garage for 20 years i wanted to make sure. theres plenty of rust for me to remove!

i used a heat gun an a scraper dude! works better than any paint remover ive used!




trying to decide on paint at the moment. ive narrowed it down to 3.

I met a guy a while ago called charlie, he had the best Z i've ever seen, spent over £50K modding it! Looked awesome in white, I'm sure he wouldn't mind me posting up the pics!

A kindred. I'm only 27. I think we are definately in a minority in the classic car world! Just means we are true connoisseurs. What's thechssis and monocoque like rust wise?
 
the floor pans and chasis rails under the cabin are shot, got the repair panels for those. the rest seems pretty decent just top skin rust in the usual places on any classic car, arches sills anywhere where there is a holt hole lol
 
i've just looked at your pictures from page 1. Looks really good actually doesn't it! I saw you were entertaining the idea of orange. Here's a couple of pics of a 240Z I nearly bought some time ago.
 
ive decided against the orange now dude as it always looks faded in direct sunlight.

dark colour to match the wheels ive chosen. ;)

also what nissan drive trains can i use to uprate the 240z?
 
There are a few companies out there making alloy props etc and the R200 diff is always popular. It'd be worth speaking to Mike Feeney at MJP, e's done it all before.

You should of bought the car. My dad has stripped the car completly now and he has started to re-build it, even though it didn't need it as the car is extremely good condition :thumbs:

Hopefully the speed my dads working on it, it should be back on the road fully re-built within a couple of months and hopefully I will be attending some events with it :D

your car looks to be in good condition for a UK 240Z should make a nice car when done.
if you are painting the car a dark colour the car panels need to be prepped to a high standard as dark colours can show a lot of imperfections if the panels are not straight.
