...........slots went out of fashion in the 80's, unlike the z cars they where almost std fitment on, so now people are fitting wheels that really suit the car that where not available back then, ............................... Dia of the wheels all depends on how the rest of the car has been done 17" look too large on some cars but on others the look great.

This is my point - wheels on a Z are a true fire way of seeing current and past trends....................what was past might not be tomorrow  but is today !

But my personal feeling is that a Z is not a second millennium car but a design over 40 years old. If I want a modern 240Z - I'll get a 370 !

Guys why all the discussion on wheels, there will be far more important jobs to do first. However I realise size may dictate arches (even power steering) etc.

First thing Alex is to fully understand what you have with the car (condition wise) and what MUST be done to make this a sound car and that will all be body structure. Do that, get it all in primer on old wheels and then work out what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend. Don't go buying any fancy bits at this stage.

Sorry to sound like your dad! By the way I can pop over if you want a second opinion. I also have lots of bits here which I could trade for some of your painting time! (that should generate a few comments from members;)).

All the best with it.

Right got to the point now to decide where to go engine wise?

If anyone can help me decide! Right on one hand it's stick with the engine it was given but tripple webers and some engine work. On the other hand there's an rb26 ! Had a search and just want to know what the cost would be? Conversion will be done by me just want to know cost of parts etc for both options!

If anyone can help that would be wicked

stick with standard engine but go with throttle bodies and engine work or turbo just look at TWOFORTYs car 350 bhp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

L-series - turbo it !

Anything else......a V8 or as you suggested an RB swap.

But the costs won't just be the engine.....

Or just settle for a nice 200 ish bhp L-gata and spend the other money on brakes, suspension and drivetrain to fully exploit the power you have !

It all seems to get a bit 'Top Trumps' with these bhp ratings - I wonder how many of actual or planned 250+ cars can actually be comfortably driven except in straight lines..........

Yea I understand that the costs be over and above just the engine itself just trying to get a rough idea each option will cost

Turbos generally are the route to easy power if you don't have to develop the system for it...
