RB 240z Conversion

Any more updates to this?

Don't suppose you still have that dolly that you used on page 58, that would be very handy to me during the next lot of work I'll be doing. :)

Still waiting for the auto sparky to turn up to fit the new ingitor and to find out why it's not starting as I moved a few wires under the dash.

Sorry the dollys gone but was so easy to make wheels were from B&Q and mounted onto some box section.

Mate, I am new to the Z world, but Ive had some fairly handy stuff in the past, I dont care what you drive, what youre in to or how much money you have to spend on toys. Anyone that knows even the smallest amount about cars can not fail but to be totally impressed with what youve done, the tenacity, drive and attention to detail is unreal.
Fair play... Effort

Thanks .

I'm currently looking and diff/lsd option so was having another look over your thread, but I'm a bit confused, you say you are using a 200SX short nose R200 but from looking at the photo it looks more like a long nose R200, even looks like it mounts the exactly the same as my long nose R200, am I missing something?

I'm thinking about a 4.1 as its closest to the 4.363 that a GTS-T runs. Failing that a 280ZX 3.9 may do the job, I'd be running a fair bit more power than a stock GTS-T so longer gearing should be too much of a problem.

OK auto sparky turned up yesterday to fit the Z32 ignitor but was unhappy with the detail that i downloaded from the internet so am chasing a wiring diagram for a R33 GTR and a Z32 so he can work it out, still not a wasted day as he had a few other jobs to wire up for me.

I just hope that we can get it up & running again soon !!!

Hi Dave been looking through this thread on your conversion all i can say is totally amazing look forward to seeing your car in the flesh well done hope you get it sorted soon :bow:

Another day working on the Z all the little bits that were pushed to one side last year are now all finished and all the car looking good.

I am 100% sure we have all the info for this Z32 PTU swop now, so hopefully that should happen early doors next week as Matt the autosparky has been hounding me so he can finish up and box it all up,

I have also bought a new coilpack loom as looking at the old unit it was a bit crispy from the heat so that can be fitted with the ignitor.

Z32 series 2 ignitor has been fitted onto the bulkhead away from the heat, it nice and easy to remove the coil pack cover now without having to undo all the original coilpack/ignitor wiring.

Just got to put in some fresh fuel as its been sitting for 8 months IF it does not start i am going to cry.

What a pain to drain the fuel in the main & surge tanks buts it done now with fresh Shell V Power in both, i tried to start the car today but the starter is turning over a bit slow so that's been removed to be recondition tomorrow.

Thought it would be easy to drain Dave. Disconnect fuel line and stick it in a big fuel can. Turn the ignition on and let the pumps do the work?

Do starters really need reconditioning? It's not low voltage at the starter? Cause by a bad connection.

When I saw you had posted I was so looking forward to you saying you'd been out for a drive and it was running sweet.

Gutted for you Dave thought it was going to be big smiles all round ,don't you just love these cars .Look forward to you good news best of luck ;)

Derrick

8 Months should be ok if the fuel had stabilizer added to it, not sure how it would fare without. But sure its better to be safe than sorry, especially on a turbo car.
