Nice job Dave! how's the gear stick position?

its right on the money - centre of the tunnel hole no mods required
when they designed the skyline they must have had a layout and drawning of the 240-260 at hand

Well you lot might have been stuffing your faces with xmas dinner over the last week some Z club members have been hard at it

1) All under side of car cleaned up and painted
2) Picked up the rest of the engine parts (boxes and boxes)
3) TB striped down and cleaned (built up again)
4) Starter & alt cleaned up
5) Sorted out the bits to go to the polishers (nice and shiny)

will post up some new pictures soon

Keep it coming Dave, I cant wait to see it in the flesh so to speak.
I wonder if the thought of a Skyline engined Z will tempt Mr Raynor out of the garage and onto the track??????

Dave, I'm impressed with your enthusiasm to re-engineer the car, especially when it was so good before. However there are quite a few members in the club e.g. Skiddel, Phil, Mark, Steve Francis (and the other V8 boys) who have shown how well the 240 (in road trim) copes with the extra power.

When I replaced my chassis legs under the floor I too took them all the way to the back (seemed sensible whilst I was under there). It seems that you have two lots of gearbox mountings (ears) now, is that so that you could convert back to standard at some time?

It will be really interesting to see how this car performs both as a quick road car and track-day/drag beast. At this rate we won't have to wait too long either!

Well done.

Want to hurry the car along dont want it to be still sat there this summer 07 ,with it beening a early 240z the chassis only ran 1/2 way down so when i talked it over with Mr F it was better to make it stronger and run them to the back to stop the car twisting on a hard take off (The Pod).
The original gearbox ears have now been removed (so the later 260z ones can be seam welded into place and also to allow a little movement on the gearbox when under power) the chap thats done the welding for me puts V8s engines into his customers cars so is used to making up bespoke parts
the Z tunnel is double skinned where the ears mount on so with moving the new ears back (to allow the skyline box to sit right) he has also double skinned it as he put it "to stop the box from dropping out"

Nice one Dave!

Keep at it!! Your enthusiasm is contagious, after a severe lack of effort on my part I am getting back into my project now. Mission is to have it done by April.

Looks like a cool project - what sort of HP goal/turbo configuration are you planning on?

I'm from a skyline background myself so find this sort of stuff hugely interesting :) who are you talking to about the engine build up as there are some nasty pitfalls to be avoided!

I'm in the process of rebuilding my R33 GTSt engine at the moment, just an RB25 but I'm expecting in the region of 500 or so BHP when I'm done.
