F1 Competition 2010

Given the large amount of rule changes this year, new drivers (some older ones too..........), new teams, engine suppliers etc....it is universally agreed that this year will be less predictable and more open than last year.
Yes, I know we say that every year but did you have Button down to win this time last year ?

Liar !!! Never mind, what I propose is that extra points might be won each race for he (or she) who correctly predicts (let's avoid the word 'guessing') the pole position driver - I dunno - 3 pts ?

Failing that, a prize at the end of the season for he (or she.......why you keep doing that Stan ? Do what ? Interupting us.....I want to be a woman. You what ? I want to be a woman - it's my right as a man, I want you to all call me Loretta now. You WHAT ? It's my right ! Why ? I want to have babies....you can't have babies ! Don't you oppress me..............)

Sorry, got side-tracked....!

A prize at the end of the season for he (or she.......stop that now.......) who guesses (or predicts) the most pole sitters with the closest getting the prize !

Whaddyasay ?

Little prize for he (or she) who predicts the winning team and driver too - obviously if there are several winners, you need to determine who will win out of them - I'm sure Rob can work out some devious selection system to allow porcine later Zs to win (except fat-boy body kitted Zxs..............) !

I like Sean's pole-setting idea - Qualifying will be more interesting for us then too.

I'd go along with that too, as my predictions always seem to be closer to the grid position rather than the final positions! :D

I also like the prize idea too, but where will they be stored in the mean time? In a box?! ;)

If the prizes were lupins, they'd be in a ................?

Maybe it'll be too easy this year to predict the pole-sitter : last year with refueling, it was possible for even Cheesy-fella to be there whereas this year, it'll be the best driver and car package because they'll all have the same weight !

Oh fcuk, it's Mr Rob...'Creosote'....Jones !

Of course, this year is merely symbolic of our struggle against reality as the big three (as in Yalta) have already sewn it up :

ol' cobblers
the man who carries the name but has never let one near his whiskers
ex-Z man

The greatest comeback ever...........with God (yes, he is a man and only a short one at that) pulling the strings to make F1 more interesting !

NURSE!! ... He's out of his bed again.... and off his head too!!

Nice idea tho' but as the Boy also said, this year may not be as unpredictable for pole sitters as previous years.. and therefore winners!

However, whilst we are giving away all these points, I can include this upgrade as well as 2 points for fastest lap ??

Got to give our overseas participants a chance at least!

So how do you all feel about these additions??:smash:

BTW.. Anyone want to buy a 350z?

Yep, all sounds good to me.

Except the 25pt handicap for last seasons winner. Oh, wait a minute that was Sean, wasn't it?

Keep up with S30's? A properly set up Z32 with a good driver will eat a S30 for breakfast!

A '94 Cunningham Le Mans prototype - yes. Otherwise, you'll just choke on your cornflakes !

Rob - please can you list for us what we should be predicting now before a race and also before the complete season (ie years' winner and also team prediction too ?) - please.

Can I predict what Bernie'll be wearing on each starting grid ? Alright, it won't be his wife...........

5 days to go 'till practice 1 :D

Also been looking at the points system and, on reflection, would perfer to keep it as was last year! :driving:
Everything is set up and to make changes to accommodate Seans little foibles would screw up the whole score card!:smash:

So remind us (and don't liken me to Bernies' score system please - I'm taller and don't wear M and S white shirts) what we're supposed to predict - now for the season and before each race and what the points system is. Thanks ('cos I can't remember what the steward (version 'bar') has accepted and what he's rejected..........).

Ditto I think If Sean is asking for a reminder of what we are meant to predict then it is a ditto from me as I have got confused of what we have to do
Is it the first eight still together with wining constructor and wining driver for tie break s at the end of the season

It's a good job this thread got resurrected today, I'd forgotten and am away until later in the week. That would have been a bad start! :p

Anyway, I'll kick off.

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Massa
4. Alonso
5. Button
6. Schumacher
7. Webber
8. Kubica

OK! A quick recap on what's required!
By Midnight on the Wednesday before the Sunday race you should predict the first 8 drivers past the chequered flag.:driving:
For each driver that you predict finishing in the correct position in the 8 = 5 points
OR
For each driver in your top 8, but not in the predicted place = 2 points.
If you post up your prediction after the Wednesday midnight deadline but within 24 hours of it = minus 5 points.
If you post up your prediction after 24hours of the Wednesday deadline, you will score 10 points less than the lowest compliant score of other participants. This may mean you will have a negative score!!
You can opt to post up a repeat prediction for times when you may be away or off line and any prediction can be amended by re-posting - but not editing your original post! This must be done BEFORE the Wednesday midnight deadline.
A no post gathers no points and the last post is the one that will count towards your score for that week. You cannot retract a prediction unless you repost a new one.

Misdemeanours will be penalised by deductions of points as above or as I may decide! :smash:

Any questions please ask before Wednesday 9pm.

We never bothered about winning driver or constructor in previous years but if anyone wants to post their final winners than please feel free!

What about points awarded for placing the pole sitter then and fastest race lap - sort of spice it up jobbie ? C'mon, otherwise it's all about predicting the race parade.........!

Unless, your scoring system can't cope ?
