Whilst your miss-spelling of the word Samuri just causes irritation, Froinky.

Sorry JK, I'm going to have to add my ha'penny worth here...

The whole 'Samuri'/'samuri' thing was caused by the people who chose to have the word 'Samuri' (sic) written on their cars, over the door of their workshop(s) and on their correspondence. Over the years we've been told many stories, some that it was "deliberate" (because another company was using the *correct* spelling), some that it was the fault of a dyslexic signwriter, and so on. Like so much of the story surrounding the people and cars concerned, it seems to have been made up as they went along and changed when it suited them.

Galatians IV: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Oh no we are back onto Samuri's . :smash:

The point is that irrespective of whether the spelling used by the company is wrong it should be used when referring to them.

Exactly that Rob. Frunky does it deliberately Alan that's all. Not sure why, not really interested, but when referring to the cars the correct way of spelling is Samuri

I thought that he just had a poor spell-checker on his phone.

Made the trip just to see the MZR cars and I wasn't disappointed. Executed perfectly and to my taste. Which means I must be a youngster according to Rob :). These cars remind me so much of the singer Porsches which I am a big fan of. These cars are not built to the taste of youngsters but for the successful man who finds himself with a chunk of disposable income and wants a toy. He may have chosen a 911 but is put off by just how many he see on the roads everyday. This type of 240z is the perfect car for him. What else is there that fits the bill?

I was amazed at just how much custom work has gone into these cars. The number of parts that have been tweaked or totally re-engineers appears endless. I could have spent all day looking at these cars. From what I here, these were the stars of the show and must have raised the profile of the marque enormously. Well done Rahail. Keep up the good work.

I'm totally with you there Johnymd,I liked what I saw and thought it was a great advert for the modern Zed.Admit its not every ones taste and your probably not doing it as an investment the same way you buy an original one.I think you would struggle to get your money back if you sold it a couple of years later but
if I had pots of spare cash and wanted a modern car in a classic body,I wouldn't think twice about it.

Fantastic - they sound like marvellous cars. They do look lovely.

So John, do you think they are the new Samuri?

I think they are an alternative to a singer. Certainly not comparable to a Samuri at all. From what I understand, the Samuri cars were built with performance in mind rather than looks and attention to detail. Although MZR roadsport are building cars with performance upgrades, they are not building track cars. These are street cars that perform well and are works of art IMO.

Here's a couple of pics I took of the MZR cars yesterday and also the 2 on the 300ZX stand.

Was there when the green 260Z went under the hammer in the auctions & made £11.5k. A fair price I thought bearing in mind it did need a bit of work. The door had dropped so that it wouldn't close properly, there was a semi-dash cap that was starting to pull away from the underneath and there was a bit of rust underneath and in the dog-leg sections.

Not sure what the Samuri /samuri (not getting into that debate!!:smash:) made if it did actually sell.

On the other hand I dont think it is fair to Samuri to compare them with MZR

As Sams done in a leaky old nissen hut with not much technology and machinery available baring an angle grinder and a hacksaw no internet to source stuff no import from the states or europe just a seat of the pants affair using whatever parts that could be sourced in the UK
Where as now days most stuff is available at the click of a keyboard
At the time Spike and co did a fantastic job with whatever was available
and in the same way Rahail and his gang are using all the facilities now available world wide to produce an excellent end product

Wonder if time where swapped would Spike produce the same sort of product that MZR is doing and MZR would be able to produce the same product that Spike was doing

I don't think Spike could or even would and let's face it - aside from a spray job, the car had a mechanical work over and that was it - worked well - job done.

An MZR is rebuilt from scratch and one could order the car before it ever sees paint.

An MZR will outperform a Samuri but hardly fait to compare considering the age gap and that Samuri was doing it first in the UK and whilst the cars were still leaving the dealer forecourts.

Incomparable.

I think Johny's comments are spot on - these are no youngsters' toys but grown men wanting to be a little different than Mr Porsche-key-ring and might also remember the cars on the road when he was younger and always fancied one.

As said before I did ask the guy on the MZR stand about the mirrors and he said they don't sell the individual parts off the cars they produce. And have no plans to. These are bespoke parts. He did say they themselves manufacture the small arm that attached the mirror to the door frame. The actual mirror you 'can' obtain from elsewhere. But he didn't say where and why should he, really. It does nothing for the exclusivity of their cars if other cars are rolling round with the same parts on them! And he'd be right.

I replied with thanks after his answer and he said that I had at least replied with courtesy, unlike a visitor to the stand at the show on Friday who gave him a volley of abuse when he refused to sell him a pair for his own car.

So, short answer. You 'could' obtain these mirrors but from where I don't know - and you will have to find a way to attach them to the car yourself.

Thank you for making the enquiry on my behalf and taking some pictures Mike, its much appreciated!

That's a shame to hear albeit I can understand the reasons as to why, I had thought they were just silver rather than carbon which is a bit blingy for what I'm after anyway. You never know they may be more tempted to part with their secrets if they undertook some work on the car in the future.

I think short of getting JDM fender mirrors the placement and aesthetic of these are perfect to me.

It’s not rocket science to how they’re mounted. Looks to be a nicely tapered rod which will screw one end, mirror mount the other.

Tidy solution really.

Not suggesting it is dude, I'm just aware how much easier it is when someone else has already spent all of the time and effort finding the perfect solution and doing the R&D ironing out any issues.

Couldn't agree more!
